Mexico’s passport is ranked 24th regarding travel freedom because nationals can enter many nations and territories without a visa or with one upon arrival. The ranking of the Mexican passport is based on the level of global admission it provides to Mexican passport holders, who can visit 158 countries without a visa but must obtain one to enter 48 other nations.
TYPES OF MEXICO PASSPORT
The Mexican government issues three types of passports: regular, diplomatic, and official.
- Regular Passport: The majority of citizens apply for ordinary passports, which are the most popular type of Mexican passports.
- Diplomatic passport: Diplomatic passports are only to be used for official purposes and are only issued to high-ranking government officials and Mexican diplomats.
- Official Passport: Individuals who represent the Mexican government are granted official passports.
PASSPORT VALIDATION PERIOD
Passports from Mexico have varying lengths of validity depending on the age group. Three types of Mexican passports are categorized in this;
Candidates well over the age of 18 have a 10-year validity period; those between the ages of 12 and 18 have a 6-year validity period; and those under 12 have a 3-year validity period.
MEXICO PASSPORT ELIGIBILITY CRITERION
One can only apply for a Mexico passport after gaining citizenship in Mexico.
- You must stay in Mexico for 2 to 5 years, depending on your situation, before you may seek citizenship.
- You must also show that you are fluent in Spanish and understand Mexican history and culture.

Applicants must present the following required documentation:
- First and foremost, two copies and the original of your application form
- Also, two copies and the original birth certificate
- Lastly, in original and two copies, other Mexican identification documents (such as an INE, a driver’s license, etc.).
