POSITION: Drilling Rig Operator (Driller)

LMI Holdings is a well-diversified Ghanaian group engaged in the Construction, Property Development, Logistics, Utilities, and ICT sectors.
Purpose:
Use mobile drilling equipment to create holes in open-pit mines and quarries, as well as to drill for blasting purposes and for establishing foundations at construction locations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate and manage drilling rigs to create blast holes to designated depths at marked locations in open-pit or quarry sites.
- Capability to effectively implement appropriate drill configurations and patterns, as guided by their Project Manager.
- Accountable for overseeing and maintaining all drilling equipment, tools, and accessories.
- Capability to precisely document all drilling patterns/reports and submit them promptly.
- Anticipated to fill out safety checklists correctly
- Inform the Production head about mechanical or terrain problems.
- Capability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal oversight.
- Carry out evaluations of drill-related equipment before and after trips, maintaining documentation.
- Jointly accountable for the fundamental upkeep of drill rigs.
- Use tracked or truck-mounted drills fitted with augers or other tools to create holes for construction foundations or pilings.
- Aid, back, and assess the location and determine the layout of holes to be drilled,
- Fill blast holes with explosives and explode them to create blasts in the pit.
- Tasked with verifying all drill fluid levels, such as engine oil, hydraulic oil, rock oil, compressor oil, anti-freeze, and fuel.
- Compose reports on operational discoveries when necessary.
- Inform the blaster-in-charge about the drilling conditions, including rock type, wet holes, voids, mud seams, the pattern, and size of the drill bit.
- Exercise utmost care and adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols.
- Additional responsibilities as designated.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Should be capable of reading, writing, and adhering to instructions, manuals, technical documents, and using a tape measure.
- Should possess technical expertise regarding worksite blueprints.
