POSITION: Country Director
About the Position
The Ghana Country Director is accountable for achieving outcomes for women and their families, promoting programmatic excellence, and applying best practices extensively in Ghana. They deliver excellent services in the areas of greatest need, and their efforts directly help prevent maternal fatalities and create a lasting positive effect on the lives of many individuals annually. The CD is also tasked with ensuring that Ghana’s social business model is robust on both the social and business aspects.
The Ghana Country Director is a pivotal leadership role, accountable for the comprehensive strategy, management (programmatic, financial, and administrative), and execution of MSI’s objectives in Ghana. They guide proficient, expert national teams to provide life-saving services via centers, social marketing, and the public sector.
They also handle the preparation and execution of yearly budgets, marketing strategies, and work schedules; create new business prospects; supervise financial, administrative, and logistical resources; ensure compliance with MSI minimum standards; and guarantee quality operations in accordance with annual and long-term strategic goals and objectives. The Country Director oversees outcomes, appreciating and recognizing high performance, accountability, promptness, efficiency, and innovation, all while placing the client at the core of our actions.
The Country Director serves as MSI’s highest-ranking representative in the designated country. Answering to the Senior Director for Africa. MSI Ghana collaborates with the MoH and various donors as an implementing partner. The Country Director cooperates with the government to address obstacles hindering women’s and men’s access to safe, affordable reproductive health services, while fulfilling donor obligations

Required Skills or Experience
To carry out this function, you will require the following abilities:
- A manager with strong financial insight
- Demonstrated experience in delivering impact, quality, and sustainability in programs while enhancing operational standards.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, capable of leading, inspiring, and directing Country Programs. Demonstrated capability to convey ideas, proposals, issues, and implications effectively at an executive level.
- Outstanding project management abilities about organizational development initiatives and multinational, cross-functional teams, with a demonstrated track record of achieving outcomes.
- Well-honed abilities in problem-solving, diplomacy, networking, and negotiation.
- Exhibition of ‘initiating actions’, working swiftly, and achieving results through others efficiently.
To fulfill this position, you must possess the following experience:
- Proven experience in creating and effectively executing business plans and growth strategies, with a history of matching resources to essential priorities, maintaining management teams’ focus on important milestones, and reliably attaining results.
- Experience in discussing various complex matters with the capacity to articulate an inspiring vision and purpose within operations and, when suitable, across different business functions.
- A comprehension of significant policies/issues of major bilateral/multilateral donors and a solid grasp of business practices.
- A global perspective, with comprehension of and compassion for the development field, along with a recognition of cultural diversities.
- Experience in managing a social enterprise, ideally in a developing nation.
- Experience in creating and managing budgets to guarantee effective oversight occurs.
- Comprehension of the challenges related to the delivery of reproductive health care services globally.
- A track record of ‘producing results’, working swiftly, and achieving outcomes through collaboration with others.
