POSITION: Regional Business Manager AGRO

Job Description

We are looking for a strategic and seasoned Regional Business Manager – Agro to become part of our team in Ghana. The perfect candidate will oversee and enhance our nationwide commercial Agro operations, being accountable for sales outcomes, customer portfolio growth, market visibility, and team management. As the primary liaison for commercial Agro initiatives, you will create and execute market strategies, cultivate robust client connections, and lead a high-achieving team towards sustainable and profitable growth. You will directly report to the General Manager and collaborate closely with the Group Head of Agro, along with other business leaders.

What are our expectations for the candidate?

In your role as the Regional Business Manager, you will position SOLEVO as a leading force in Ghana’s agricultural industry by developing a successful go-to-market strategy and converting our market presence into actual value creation. You will oversee customer segmentation, pricing, gross-to-net conversion, inventory management, and receivables — all while maintaining a strong sales team and a flexible operational framework.

Main Duties:

  • Oversee and expand significant accounts, featuring routine client meetings, technical assistance, and credit monitoring.
  • Manage and enhance sales operations, encompassing team performance assessment and mentoring.
  • Build and oversee the customer portfolio, encompassing financial evaluation and remedial measures.
  • Achieve precise sales and inventory predictions via the SOP process, coordinating with supply chain and production departments.
  • Identify production and repackaging requirements in cooperation with the Production Manager.
  • Implement SOLEVO’s marketing strategy at the local level, tailoring brand and product displays to meet regional demands.
  • Collect competitive and customer insights to enhance strategic initiatives.
  • Establish and track targets for price and volume, including margin results over both short and long-term periods.
  • Oversee credit policies and facilitate receivables collection according to company objectives.
  • Oversee product development and registration plans, pinpointing new opportunities and managing trials.
  • Guide and motivate a team of over 10 commercial employees, fostering high enthusiasm, enhancing skills, and ensuring alignment with business goals.

If you have…

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial management, ideally in the agriculture industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding and growing sales teams.
  • Deep knowledge of Ghana’s agricultural market, encompassing regulations, participants, and value chains.
  • Proficiency in products for crop protection, fertilizers, and/or seeds.
  • Excellent business development abilities with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.

Desirable:

  • Background collaborating with diverse teams (supply chain, procurement, marketing).
  • Knowledge of sales planning instruments, client segmentation, and reward schemes.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and financial skills.
  • Capability to examine intricate markets and convert findings into implementation.
  • Familiarity with local languages and/or French is an advantage
