Job Title: Accounts Payable Assistant (Fixed-Term Contract)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Accounts Payable Assistant for a fixed-term contract position within our Shared Services Centre (SSC) in Ghana. You will report to the Accounts Payable Team Lead and play a crucial role in processing supplier invoices and verifying transactions. Your work will directly support our financial operations, ensuring we meet high service standards and maintain strong internal controls in service of our global mission.

Purpose of the Position

The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of invoices and credit notes. You will deliver a high level of service that meets or exceeds our established Service Level Agreements, supporting World Vision’s financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Your role is central to the smooth operation of our accounts payable function. Core duties include:

First, you will accurately process a high volume of supplier invoices and credit notes in accordance with established procedures.
You will serve as a key support contact, assisting both internal and external customers with their accounts payable inquiries.
A critical responsibility involves sending invoices for necessary approvals in a timely manner to avoid processing delays.
Furthermore, you will actively support the execution of internal control procedures to safeguard financial resources.
You will also help clarify and resolve audit-related queries concerning the accounts payable process.
Additionally, you will diligently maintain invoice log sheets to ensure accurate tracking of all balance sheet account activities.
You will provide clear communication to stakeholders regarding any invoices that are voided or rejected at the time of booking.
Finally, you will support the AP analyst by providing accurate data for the preparation of essential weekly reports.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Practical experience interfacing with business customers to resolve payment issues or clarify service requirements.
Broad-based experience working with accounting principles and financial systems.
The ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive, high-volume environment.
A solid understanding of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Knowledge of World Vision’s specific finance policies and systems is a strong advantage.
