POSITION: Safety and Security Manager 

Job Summary

A Safety and Security Manager oversees all security facets for designated hotels to ensure a safe experience for Guests and Members, while aiding in investigations and collaborating with local law enforcement as needed, and managing comprehensive safety and risk management procedures for the assigned hotels to ensure a secure Guest and Member experience.

Responsibilities

In your role as Safety and Security, you oversee all elements of security, safety, and risk management procedures for designated hotels to ensure a secure experience for guests and members. An Area Safety Manager will be responsible for supporting investigations and communicating with local law enforcement officials. A Safety and Security Manager must conduct thorough investigations and assess the hotel to guarantee adherence to health and safety regulations. In particular, you will take charge of executing the following duties with utmost quality:

  • Oversee internal and external guest accident/incident documentation by employing standard legal procedures as needed.
  • Direct the inquiry concerning criminal actions at the Property Level.
  • Oversee health and safety, food safety, fire safety, security, trading regulations, public health, housing, and disability matters in designated hotels.
  • Support hotel-level investigations and offer guidance for safeguarding the company’s owned and managed resources.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement authorities regarding mandatory routine inspections and accident inquiries.
  • Examine statistical accident information to distribute resources for high-risk regions in hotels.
  • Assist with operations, specialized training for statutory requirements, supplier validation, and crisis response.
  • Oversee comprehensive safety, fire protection, and security.
  • Apply safety risk management procedures under the organization’s safety policy.
  • Proactively minimize visitor concerns regarding safety and fire hazards.
  • Inspect the hotel to verify adherence to Health and Safety/Food Hygiene regulations.
  • Safety concerns related to trains for managers, supervisors, and coworkers.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A minimum of five years of experience in Security or a related field is necessary within the hospitality sector.

  • Expertise in Safety and Security Administration
  • Fire Safety Oversight/Hazard Evaluation
  • Capacity to make autonomous decisions, conduct thorough inquiries, and serve as a specialist in Safety and Security within the hotel industry.
  • Engage with team members to aid in their individual growth by recognizing personal training requirements, providing development, or offering support.
  • Engage in required training and seek additional training to address development needs.
  • Skill to read, listen, and communicate efficiently in English, both spoken and written, to obtain and record essential information.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the hotels’ floor plans and building layout, event spaces, and familiarity with the city and nearby regions.
  • Skill in utilizing different software on the computer to compose correspondence, generate reports and presentations, and communicate through email.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, and/or sit while consistently executing fundamental job duties for a shift exceeding eight hours.
  • The capacity to notice team members in the workplace, evaluate operations, and identify concerning situations related to both employee and guest behaviours.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
