Kaaka’s Burial: 3 Dead, 9 Battling For Life As Military And Police Clash With Ejura Youth

Three people have been confirmed dead at Ejura with nine battling for their lives after the Youth clash with the Military during the burial service of #fixthecountry campaigner, Kaka.

Reports indicate that the Military fired live bullets into the crowd after they were spotted moving around with clubs and sticks threatening reprisal attacks.

Confirming the news, the Medical Superintendent of the Ejura Government Hospital, Dr. Mensah told MyNewsGh.com that one of the dead was already dead when he was brought in and the other two died during treatment highlighting that their injuries were sustained from gunshots.

MP, for the area, Bawa Mohammed has condemned the action of the Military and has called on the Military High Command to intervene to forestall further worsening actions.

Background

Forty-year-old Kaaka, was reportedly attacked by a mob on the same Friday the Ghana Police Service arrested other #FixTheCountry convenors in Accra.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi but died days later on admission sparking a street protest at Ejura.

Personnel of the Ghana Police Service swiftly moved in and arrested Ibrahim Issaka alias Anyars and Fuseni Alhassan who played key roles in the attack of the deceased.

The Youth of the Municipality have blamed their Municipal Chief Executive for the death of the young activist and have called for his removal.

They moved to the streets to protest but clashed with personnel from the Ghana Police Service who fired gunshots at them.
