Job Summary
Provide support to stakeholders and customers in the Business Banking and Corporate Investment Banking space in the business.
Job Description
Accountability: Delivering Operational and Service Excellence – 50%
- Firstly, Undertake required processing and servicing activities in accordance with set procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities will include activities such as:
- Secondly, Actioning customer instructions in terms of establishing and amendments of Letters of Credit. Ensuring that application forms and documentation required are duly authenticated. Applying appropriate fees/tariffs to ensure there is no income leakage.
- Thirdly, Receiving Presenting bank documents for L/Cs issued and conducting effective Document examination to ensure they comply with L/C. Sanctions screening of all documents as per policy. Delivering of processed documents to customers/RMs.
- Furthermore, Populating the required maturity dates of presented L/C documents to facilitate easy tracking of L/C Bills Settlement
- Additionally, Payment/Settlement of matured L/Cs
- Then, Closing/booking of residual balances off the Imex system.
- Also, Recording/tracking of all paid L/Cs
- More so, Monitoring and control of matured L/Cs including notifications to Treasury, Credit Risk, Relationship teams.
- Besides that, Ensuring all income (confirmation, discrepancy and drawing charges) are duly collected during L/C Settlement
- Thereafter, Balancing of L/C Liabilities and advising Finance/Credit and Relationship teams on our L/C position on a daily basis.
- Most importantly, Updating relevant MI and sharing with appropriate stakeholders
- After that, Filing L/Cs and correspondence.
- Next is, Achieve operational rigour excellence in all aspects of activities, processes and procedures undertaken.
- Not just that but also, Comply with operational risk and rigour standards in respect of protecting people, customers, assets and the organization.
- Afterwards, Achieve individual operational performance targets and support the achievement of team targets.
- Last but not least, Achieve individual customer service targets (both internal and external) and support the achievement of team targets by working within relevant service level agreements.
- Finally, Assist with the actioning of customer enquiries received in accordance with procedures.
Accountability: Risk Control – 30%
- Firstly, Participate in snap checks as assigned by the team manager
- Secondly, Conduct CPA on half yearly basis as assigned by team manager
- Thirdly, Report all Risk Event that occurs in respective area
- Lastly, Ensure compliance with all procedures, policies and controls in respect of the role
Accountability: Team Work – 15%
- Work closely with the team leader, supervisors and other team members as one team to deliver excellent performance.
- Constantly seek to improve ways of working by challenging the status quo and supporting an empowering climate within the team, sharing knowledge, experience, best practice and providing constructive feedback as required.
- Provide cover for other team members as required.
- Support and adopt the implementation of change initiatives.
- Participate in local events to support local needs, develop individual and team skills and raise the Absa profile in the local community.
Accountability: Self – 5%
- Agree performance development objectives with the team leader.
- Pursue Self-development to increase personal effectiveness, acknowledging strengths and areas of development
Education
Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
