POSITION: Security Manager
About This Position
The position entails creating, executing, and managing security policies and procedures to safeguard the company’s resources, operations, and facilities at the mining location. The position guarantees a safe and secure atmosphere by reducing security threats, avoiding loss, and collaborating with government and local agencies.
Main Duties
- Create, execute, and uphold security policies, procedures, and protocols for the mining site focused on safeguarding the company’s staff, environment, assets including main products, reputation, and social license.
- Oversee all security functions, including access management, monitoring systems, patrol activities, and inquiries.
- Guarantee the technological readiness of pertinent security systems and technologies as authorized by management.
- Examine security violations, events, and the loss of corporate resources, then present results to leadership.
- Effectively coordinate and supervise the placement of security staff, hired guards, and security systems.
- Design, create, and successfully execute training initiatives for both internal and external security personnel.
- Create, strategize, and execute a yearly operations plan while ensuring that security is integrated into regular operations, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Organize the collection and analysis activities aimed at delivering prompt and precise evaluations and alerts regarding emerging security risks.
- Oversee the gathering and reporting of Intelligence data.
- Oversee and execute the Strict Access Control SOP for the location while ensuring proper adherence to the processes and protocols.
- Organize, oversee, and perform risk assessments across all areas and/or particular functions to be evaluated, and execute suitable mitigation action plans.
- Compile and deliver periodic security reports to top management.
- Educate and prepare personnel on security awareness, protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Facilitate community involvement initiatives and encourage harmonious relationships between the mining operations and neighbouring populations.
- Aid the company’s social license strategy by guaranteeing the site complies with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).
- Oversee strategies for crisis and emergency response that impact the safety of the mine.
- Employ efficient methods to identify, prevent, and address unlawful mining operations within the company’s mining and exploration licenses.
Education, Professional Experience & Core Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in Security Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Prior experience as a Commissioned Officer in the Military, Police, or Government Intelligence services is preferred.
- Globally acknowledged professional credentials and certification in Security.
- At least 10 years of applicable work experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in the security field is necessary, with a preference for a mining and gold room security background.
- Expertise in emergency response planning and reporting.
- Outstanding understanding of security protocols and procedures.
- Robust analytical abilities and commercial insight to provide informed decisions and suggestions.
- Thorough comprehension of financial planning and statistical analysis of data.
- Outstanding abilities in information oversight and administration.
- Extensive understanding and expertise in gold circuit protection, security technology systems, such as access control systems and alarms, along with specific advanced security technology systems.
- Outstanding abilities in decision-making and resolving issues.
- Show capability to guide and cultivate a skilled team.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- The capability to function in various cultural environments.
- Outstanding skills in leadership and people management.
- Capacity to operate autonomously with resourcefulness and originality to guarantee exceptional performance.
