POSITION: Field Research Enumerator 

Job Overview

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a globally recognized policy and research organization dedicated to discovering effective solutions that improve the lives of people in poverty. Since 2009, our work in Ghana has helped shape better policies and programs through rigorous, evidence-based research. We are now recruiting dedicated Field Research Enumerators to join our data collection team for an important study.

Position Summary

IPA seeks experienced enumerators to conduct in-person household surveys in several districts across the Northern and Savannah Regions. This role is ideal for proactive individuals who are deeply connected to their local communities. You will conduct interviews with adult household members, playing a direct role in gathering data that informs critical development initiatives.

Preferred Locations:

  • Northern Region: Mion, Karaga, Tolon, and Kumbungu
  • Savannah Region: Central Gonja and East Gonja Districts

Key Responsibilities

As a Field Enumerator, your work will be both impactful and community-focused. Your primary duties will include:

  • Conducting accurate and respectful surveys with households in your assigned communities.
  • Travelling to and potentially residing within assigned districts or field stations for the survey duration.
  • Strictly following all IPA survey protocols and data collection guidelines to ensure research integrity.
  • Adhering to all health and safety protocols, including those outlined by the Ghana Health Service.
  • Maintaining clear and prompt communication with the Research Associate, Field Manager, and other IPA staff.
  • Performing other project-related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Your Qualifications and Skills

Essential Requirements:

  • A Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
  • Prior experience in field-based data collection is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Computer Assisted Interview (CAI) technology, or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
  • Full professional fluency in English, with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in at least one of the following local languages: Gonja, Likpakpan, or Dagbani. The ability to translate questionnaires is crucial.
  • A strong willingness to travel and work within remote communities in the specified districts.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are looking for responsible, honest, and diligent individuals who can work independently. Previous experience with SurveyCTO is a significant advantage. Furthermore, being a current resident of one of the specified districts is highly preferred.
