POSITION: Superintendent – Human Resources

Purpose of the Job

To assist the Department Head in the efficient leadership, management, and implementation of all strategic programs, plans, projects, and initiatives within the HR & Media Department, ensuring alignment with the Company’s present and future human capital needs, in compliance with established policies, standards, legal obligations, and industry best practices.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager in formulating staffing plans and requirements for all departments while proposing effective solutions to tackle any related challenges. This encompasses supporting the execution of the Company’s hiring/recruitment/talent acquisition strategies, as well as engagement and separation processes to guarantee the prompt availability of workforce, including drafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, administering aptitude tests, and all associated matters.
  • Assist the Manager in ensuring that the rewards, incentives, compensation, and benefits system is competitive and aligns with the company’s strategy and organizational culture.
  • Proactively assist in the creation and execution of employee performance management/Key Performance Indicator (KPI) processes to guarantee optimal performance, productivity, and development.
  • Facilitate productive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of HR initiatives.
  • Spearhead the creation of necessary reports, dashboards, and analytics to support management’s decision-making and meet legal requirements. This encompasses scheduled and occasional reports in accordance with due dates.
  • Oversee general HR administrative tasks, process HR payroll, and maintain employee support systems promptly and efficiently.
  • Offer proactive assistance and programs related to employee relations while fostering positive industrial relations to encourage sustainable production and development.
  • Assist the training function to facilitate the growth of a versatile and competent workforce that addresses the present and future skill requirements of the Company.
  • Assist the training function in creating and executing career/employee development programs, initiatives, and activities, while also aiding in succession planning and talent management efforts for the Mine.
  • Create the necessary templates, standards, guidelines, and procedures in the domain area to guarantee that the Company adheres to the highest standards.
  • Carry out other relevant tasks as required by the Company’s needs, as directed by the Supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum requirements(s) 

  • Qualification in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Acknowledged professional HR certification.
  • A member of an accredited HR Professional Organization in Ghana or internationally, such as CIHRM-Ghana, SHRM, or CIPD.

Minimum Experience 

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of mid-level management experience as an HR generalist within a multinational mining, extractive, or manufacturing sector.
  • Proven practical understanding of HR practices in the mining, manufacturing, technology sector, or related fields.

Understanding (Thorough) 

  • Thorough understanding of Ghanaian labour laws and regulations.
  • Extensive understanding of HR internal controls and efficiency procedures.
  • Comprehension of the Minerals and Mining Law and Regulations concerning labour and expatriation.
  • Strong understanding of compensation and reward concepts and practices.
  • Outstanding understanding of corporate governance and ethical standards.
  • Capacity to perform competency-based/behavioural interviews.
  • Planning and time organization.

Abilities 

  • Robust research and statistical assessment methods.
  • Effective negotiation skills and very proficient in conflict resolution.
  • Team collaboration (the capacity to collaborate within a group).
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, along with the capability to engage with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS applications.
  • Capacity to handle various priorities and adhere to deadlines in a rapid-paced setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and the capacity to collaborate efficiently with all tiers of the organization.
  • Focus on precision and a strong degree of exactness in tasks.
  • Capacity to manage sensitive and confidential information with care.
  • Strongly developed presentation abilities.
  • Robust analytical abilities and effective critical thinking methods.
