POSITION: Executive Director
Job Description
The Ghana Wildlife Society, a national NGO focused on conservation and research, is looking to hire a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as its Executive Director. The role offers vision and strategic guidance for the Society’s development and guarantees efficient implementation of its nature and environmental conservation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the strategic trajectory of the organization, encompassing the creation and execution of long-term strategies and everyday operations.
- Overseeing the organization’s finances, which encompasses the yearly budget, financial reporting, tracking cash flow and expenses, and guaranteeing financial sustainability.
- Exhibiting effective leadership and team oversight, cultivating a positive workplace environment while guiding and inspiring team members.
- Interacting with stakeholders like board members, donors, community partners, and government officials to secure backing and cooperation.
- Supervising the creation, execution, and assessment of programs and initiatives, making certain they correspond with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Leading fundraising initiatives and development by recognizing and nurturing connections with prospective donors, creating fundraising plans, and obtaining financial support for these activities.
- Acting as the organization’s public representative and serving as an external presence at conferences, events, and media interactions.
- Collaborating closely with the board of directors to oversee governance and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory obligations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- An advanced degree (at least MPhil) in a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role and knowledge of NGO activities.
- Demonstrated effective leadership abilities, experience in securing resources for projects, knowledge of donor organizations, and management of several donor-funded initiatives.
- Outstanding skills in both verbal and written communication.
- Strong dedication to and enthusiasm for preserving nature.
