POSITION: Senior Technical Officer

Job Description 

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) is seeking a skilled technical professional to assist its Energy Service Centre (ESC) in overseeing projects and providing renewable energy/energy efficiency consulting and technical support to clients.

The Senior Technical Officer will collaborate closely with the ESC team and sector stakeholders. They will oversee and assist the Technical Officer (1) and report to the Chief Technical Officer of AGI-ESC.

Duties & Obligations:

General assignment

  • Assist AGI-ESC in its activities to improve its range of services and create revenue through its initiatives.
  • Enhance the ability of commercial and industrial firms (C&I) to strategize their renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) investments.
  • Create, coordinate, and provide technical and advisory support as well as training for C&I and service providers in the industry.
  • Collaborate with project partners, donors, and various stakeholders in the planning and implementation of projects
  • Support with any additional tasks from AGI-ESC and AGI

Client acquisition (C&I)

  • Via personal sales and direct marketing initiatives.
  • Preparation of contracts and agreements.

Project Execution

  • Conduct and/or oversee RE feasibility assessments and EE audits at commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Transaction advisory: Helping businesses achieve their objectives via tenders and similar methods.
  • Owner’s engineering: Assurance of quality for external project executors.
  • Creation of relevant reports for clients, AGI, donors, and other project collaborators.

Training and additional activities

  • Aid in the planning, development, and execution of training sessions, workshops, seminars, and various events.

Observing

  • Revising the monitoring datasheets for the services offered and carrying out the recommendations from ESCs (such as energy audits, feasibility studies, etc.).
  • Supply details to relevant donors upon request.

Funding assistance

  • Assist the AGI-ESC in finding funding opportunities for renewable energy/energy efficiency investment initiatives, and offer coordination services between project developers and financial entities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in renewable energy, electrical or electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or any related field.
  • Belonging to the Ghana Institution of Engineering or any professional organization is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy field.
  • 3 years of experience in Project Development working with donor agencies.
  • Strong technical expertise in energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change, and sustainability.

Background as an instructor. 

Familiarity with cutting-edge financing ideas (contracting/ESCO frameworks, lease-to-own, crowdfunding) for renewable energy/energy efficiency, applicable to both public and private sectors.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong practical understanding of ICT technologies and office software (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proficiency in RE/EE design software, including AutoCAD, RETScreen, PV Syst, HelioScope.
  • Proficient in English (both spoken and written).
  • Experience working in a multicultural setting is beneficial.
  • Collaborative individual with a self-reliant work ethic, initiative-driven, and a go-getter.
  • Openness to refreshing skills as needed for the tasks at hand – relevant actions are determined in agreement with management.

Commencement Date: 15th September 2025

Employment Type & Duration: Full-Time, 2 years with potential for extension
