How to Secure Jobs in Canada while Awaiting Express Entry

Economic immigration policies in Canada play a vital role in expanding the country’s labor market. They are responsible for practically all recent increases in the labor force. Canada’s economy is strongly reliant on immigration, which has resulted in the integration of job efforts with immigration laws. These programs attempt to assist Canadian employers in filling roles that are difficult to staff locally. The capacity of organizations to hire applicants from the Express Entry candidate pool is an excellent example of this integration. Here, we will look at strategies for getting a job in Canada while waiting for Express Entry.

While waiting for Express Entry, candidates should focus on practical ways to find job in Canada. It’s critical to use job search tools, network, and understand the labor market. Job prospects can also be significantly boosted by creating a strong professional profile on LinkedIn and other job portals, obtaining relevant certifications, and staying current with developments in the Canadian labour market. Attending career fairs and meeting with Canadian employment services might lead to valuable relationships and opportunities.

Employers eagerly explore the Express Entry pool for qualified candidates, so applicants must showcase their qualifications and strengthen their profiles. Candidates can improve their chances of finding work even before receiving an Express Entry invitation by tailoring their skills to the demands of Canadian employers and being proactive in their job search.

What is the Canadian Express Entry system?

If you seek permanent residency in Canada, Express Entry is probably your best option. The Canadian Express Entry system is one of the most popular immigration programs for talented foreign workers due to its short processing timelines – the emphasis is on keeping families together – and the wonderful prospects it may provide candidates.

In 2015, the IRCC, which oversees all Canadian immigration, created the Express Entry system to allow qualified foreign workers and their families to become permanent residents of Canada quickly. Because Express Entry processing times can be as short as six months, the Canadian economy needs talented people in many jobs and enterprises.

The Canadian government is on target to provide permanent status to 465,000 immigrants by 2023, according to its website. Most were provided via Express Entry.

Understanding Hiring Using the Express Entry System.

Employers who seek to hire foreign nationals through the Express Entry system must follow IRCC criteria and work within specific restrictions.

Employers are expected to:

  • Ensure that the position being filled qualifies as skilled work, as defined by Canada’s TEER system as category 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the NOC.
  • Demonstrate the inability to fill the position locally, including proof of promoting the job opportunity on the Government of Canada’s Job Bank website and in “two other places.”

TEER is part of Canada’s NOC system, which is used to categorize professions across the country. This method further differentiates employment levels based on the abilities, background, education, and duties required to carry out the responsibilities of each position.

Employer Guidelines for Hiring Through Express Entry.

Employers in Canada use the Express Entry system to discover individuals and make job offers, utilizing the national Job Bank’s “Job Match” feature. The Job Bank serves as the government’s official job posting platform and offers a variety of employment-related services and products, including career planning tools, labor market data, and recruiting assistance.

The Job Match feature enables the Job Bank system to automatically match stored profiles with job descriptions provided by employers. After finding prospective candidates and completing the necessary hiring procedures, employers can choose to consider these individuals for the position. It is critical to understand that the Job Match function examines all individuals enrolled in the Job Bank system, not only those in the Express Entry pool.

If an employer chooses to make a job offer to a foreign national in the Express Entry pool after completing all standards, he or she may be required to complete a Labor Market Impact Assessment. The government conducts labor market impact assessments, or LMIAs, to analyze the impact of hiring a foreign national on the Canadian labor market. To approve the hiring of a foreign national, a Canadian corporation must do a positive or neutral review. There are, however, several scenarios in which an LMIA is not required.

Once acquired, the employer must make a legitimate offer of employment to the individual in accordance with Express Entry guidelines.

Job Consideration for Newcomers to the Express Entry Pool

Those who are new to the Express Entry pool and wish to use the Job Bank’s “Job Match” feature must:

  • Have a valid Express Entry profile, which includes a profile number and job seeker validation code.
  • Create a Job Match account that is unique from a Job Bank account, yet operating under the same canopy of services. When creating a profile on the Job Match platform, individuals will be required to enter their Express Entry information.

The IRCC issues job seeker validation numbers, which enable qualified individuals to begin searching for work in Canada. When a legitimate profile is submitted to the Express Entry pool, it generates these codes along with the profile number. Candidates should contact the IRCC for assistance if they do not obtain a job seeker validation code.

Once newcomers create and link both accounts, they will be quickly matched with available work opportunities in the work Bank. Notably, they will limit candidates using Express Entry to browsing job listings placed on the Job Bank for at least 30 days.
