HOW TO BECOME A MEDICAL DOCTOR IN GHANA
The hospital has become a prominent institution in almost every country. The word is a modern name given to a place where the sick goes to meet health care professionals. Here, the reason is to cure a disease or seek medical advice. A hospital has plenty workers but the doctors are on top of the list of them all. Their decision is very crucial in a patient’s life. They diagnose the disease and prescribe the drug needful for treating that disease. Should there be a mistake in how they attend to a patient, a life could be lost or jeopardized.
For this reason, to become a doctor is not a likely matter.
BEING A MEDICAL DOCTOR IN GHANA
In Ghana, there are many institutions that are dedicated to making people ready for medical practices. Those that make the citizens out to become medical doctors are also many. Many public and private universities have medical schools.
TO BECOME A DOCTOR IN GHANA
The decision for one to become a medical doctor in Ghana really gets its root from the senior high level of education. It is obvious that they that are in the junior high level of education generates interest in pursuing a career in medicine but the reality of that pursuit depends greatly on course that the individual does in the senior high school of his or her choice.
PROGRAMMES WITH CHANCES OF BECOMING A MEDICAL DOCTOR
Students that learn a science-based course have the high potential of being selected into a medical school. Those that learn biology are highly preferred by medical schools. Medical doctors end up almost dealing with life of the human being, which is also branch of biology.
Once the required course is secured to start learning the foundational knowledge required, the interested student has to write the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The interested student to become a medical doctor has to pass the exams with at least an aggregate score of ‘07’. Once this grade is secured, the interested person is to follow the application process to apply into the medical school.
ADMISSION AND GRADUATION FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL
Upon admission, the individual will undergo the training to become a medical doctor. That will last for at least 6 years. This is for undergraduates
Graduates with a background in biological fields of study can apply to medical schools. For them, upon admission, they may undergo the training for at most 5 years. This is because of their background in biology at the tertiary level of education.
