Summary
The Research Study Coordinator will assist with continuous epidemiological and infectious disease research initiatives carried out by NAMRU-EURAFCENT in Ghana. This position entails overseeing study execution, managing data collection, facilitating regulatory adherence, and guaranteeing the seamless function of research protocols. The perfect applicant will possess a solid foundation in public health or biology and have practical expertise in infectious disease monitoring and research management in real-world settings.
The tasks associated with this contract will take place at the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit EURAFCENT facilities in Cairo, Egypt, or at alternative specified sites in exceptional situations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of designated research projects, including scheduling, data gathering, and logistics.
- Collaborate with investigators, research personnel, suppliers, and study participants to facilitate study execution.
- Make sure all research activities comply with accepted protocols and Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations.
- Help with the preparation and filing of IRB documents and protocol modifications.
- Supervise informed consent procedures and guarantee participant confidentiality along with ethical guidelines.
- Gather, organize, and conduct fundamental analysis of research data utilizing authorized tools and applications.
- Prepare and revise technical documents, including abstracts, research reports, and manuscripts.
- Aid in community involvement and provide support in training field personnel, as needed.
- Perform quality assessments on gathered data and resolve operational problems during the data collection process.
- Create and present research findings to stakeholders or partner organizations
Requirements
Essential Skills and Understanding:
- Fundamental understanding of epidemiology, research on infectious diseases, and management of studies.
- Understanding fundamental disease causes and prevention methods.
- Familiarity with IRB protocol processes.
- Familiarity with survey techniques and fundamental statistics utilized for data collection and analysis.
- Proficient in utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, graphic, email, and database applications.
- Proficient in drafting memos, communications, summaries, papers, and project proposals.
- Skill to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Capability to organize work tasks.
- Capacity to apply independent judgment in problem-solving.
- The capability to deliver presentations to audiences.
- Capability to initiate tasks and operate autonomously.
- Capability to engage with researchers, suppliers, study personnel, and research subjects.
Essential Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, biological sciences, or a related area. An advanced degree is desirable, but not mandatory.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
- Travel Conditions: Travel could encompass Djibouti, Jordan, Nigeria, and additional nations in Africa and the Middle East, subject to research needs.
