POSITION: Artisan III – Fitter
Job Description
The Engineering Department at Tarkwa Gold Mine (Crushers Division) aims to hire a skilled and exceptional candidate to occupy the Artisan III – Fitter role. The chosen candidate will utilize their knowledge and experience to detect and fix issues, and collaborate with other units within the department to enhance the section’s service and support mechanics in performing maintenance tasks in the section.
Main Duties:
- Carry out daily operational tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures while adhering to set guidelines, focusing on both the quality and quantity of work produced.
- Utilize understanding of standards, techniques, and protocols in every work scenario, whether scheduled or immediate.
- Perform tasks responsibly, prioritizing the quality of work.
- Perform regular maintenance, disassemble and reassemble gearboxes, cone crushers, slurry and water pumps, components of wet grinding mills, dewatering pumps, and additional auxiliary equipment.
- Help maintain the unity of a team.
- Make deliberate efforts to reduce waste.
- Collaborate with groups and teams to pinpoint and address risks and hazards.
- Perform daily fault diagnosis and upkeep of equipment, then provide feedback to the supervisor.
- Propose methods to enhance efficiency to achieve objectives.
Qualification Required
- Mechanical Engineering Technician levels I, II, III, or NVTI Grade 2 Certificate from an accredited institution. A Higher National Diploma will be taken into account.
- At least two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of plant equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities, along with the capacity to engage with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds.
- Should be capable of working with little oversight.
- Should possess a solid background in mechanical engineering upkeep.
- Should possess a solid grasp of mechanical drives and their upkeep.
- Should possess a strong understanding of interpreting engineering diagrams.
- Should possess a strong understanding of lubricants and lubrication techniques.
- Should possess a strong understanding of mechanical hand tools, as well as measuring instruments such as micrometers, screw gauges, files, feeler gauges, and Vernier calipers, among others
