POSITION: Program Manager

GEI is a private organization that provides transformative education and global engagement initiatives for international students and professionals in Africa and Southeast Asia. We motivate and enable people and organizations to utilize their enthusiasm and abilities to foster positive transformation globally. Our programs for studying abroad, internships, and global engagement are experiential and interdisciplinary. They cultivate essential skills for global change leaders and enhance higher education and professional development – providing participants with the resources to create significant impact across various fields and borders.
We seek a talented and energetic Independent Contractor to create, organize, and oversee the content and coordination of our initiatives throughout Ghana. This position demands a combination of academic knowledge and practical skills to guarantee that our programs are educational and run efficiently. It is a contractor role and not an employment opportunity.
About the role
The chosen applicant will be responsible for these main tasks and responsibilities:
- Create and execute study abroad and internship initiatives in Ghana.
- Develop detailed program documents and schedules.
- Oversee all facets of program management.
Required skills & competencies
Education & experience:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in sustainable development, public health, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as an employee or independent contractor
- Background in study abroad programs would be advantageous.
- Broader regional experience in West Africa is an advantage, although not essential.
- Robust background in content with a capacity to effectively manage logistics and operations.
- Capacity to engage with various cultural and educational backgrounds
Skills:
- Strong English proficiency (both spoken and written); proficiency in local languages is a plus.
- Outstanding organizational abilities, with a focus on detail and capacity for multitasking
- Outstanding communication abilities, able to efficiently share information in various environments.
Character & personality:
- Enthusiasm for global education
- Proactive individual who takes initiative and thinks outside the box.
- Capability to operate autonomously with minimal oversight
- Sociable and an effective communicator
- Honesty and reliability to the utmost standard
- Extremely dependable, credible, and responsible
- Upholds exceptional levels of professionalism and effectiveness.
- Robust presence with the assurance to maintain standards and choices even in difficult circumstances.
- Courteous and skilled while maintaining firmness when necessary
- Strong under pressure and adept at managing intricate situations with wise decision-making.
- Versatile and open-minded, willing to put in extra hours when engaging with clients.
