POSITION: Technical Advisor
GIZ Ghana is seeking a Technical Advisor to join our Private Sector and Innovation Promotion (PSInno) project. If you hold a Master’s degree in social sciences, public policy, ICT, or a related field, bring five years of work experience in the public policy landscape (preferably digital policy), and want to shape AI, data, and cybersecurity ecosystems in Ghana, this role offers the perfect opportunity to make a lasting impact on SME competitiveness and job creation.

Your Mission: Strengthen Frameworks and Promote Innovation
You will support macro level project activities aimed at strengthening framework conditions and promoting innovation to enhance SME competitiveness in agro-processing and the digital economy. Your focus will span policy development, science to business collaboration, innovation ecosystem strengthening, and digital adoption. Additionally, you will support the design and implementation of innovation programmes such as challenges, pilots, and accelerators.
Key Responsibilities
Your role spans ecosystem development, stakeholder engagement, programme design, and analysis. Here is what you will tackle:
Ecosystem Development
- You will support the development of AI, data, and cybersecurity ecosystems, including stakeholder engagement and partnership building.
- Strengthening innovation hubs and intermediaries improves support services for startups and SMEs.
Science to Business Collaboration
- You will facilitate science to business collaboration between research institutions and private sector actors, translating research into commercially viable solutions.
- Promoting adoption of digital and data driven solutions within SMEs and agribusiness value chains drives productivity.
Programme Design & Implementation
- You will support the design and implementation of innovation programmes including challenges, pilots, and accelerators.
- Your creativity and structure will turn ideas into actionable initiatives.
Analysis & Coordination
- You will conduct targeted ecosystem analyses to inform programme activities and interventions.
- Supporting coordination with key stakeholders and contributing to programme implementation and reporting keeps projects on track.
What You Bring to the Role
We are looking for a candidate with the right education, experience, and competencies. Here is what you need:
Education
- A Master’s degree in social sciences, public policy, development cooperation, ICT, Agriculture Technology, or any other project related field.
Experience
- A minimum of five years of work experience in the public policy landscape, preferably digital policy.
- Deep understanding of Ghana’s digital policy and entrepreneurship landscape, plus the opportunities that currently exist for ecosystem advancement.
- Strong knowledge of the agritech space with a working understanding of the interlinkages between academia and various agriculture value chains.
- Work experience with innovation hubs and civil society organizations.
- Knowledge and experience in AI and data ecosystems.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications.
- Excellent team working and communication skills, plus excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge of English.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, high degree of flexibility, and strong attention to detail.
