The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Associate to join our team. This role is critical for ensuring the practical implementation of our health and safety strategies and guaranteeing full compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will support both our Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects and our ongoing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities, ensuring a consistently safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will span the project lifecycle and daily operations:
Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC):
- Ensure all Authorized For Construction (AFC) drawings, P&IDs, and commissioning documents accurately reflect current site conditions and safety standards.
- Support the project team in designing plant safety systems, including emergency exits, lighting, and assembly points.
- Oversee the completion and regular review of equipment risk assessments.
- Ensure all incidents are thoroughly documented, investigated, and that corrective actions are implemented.
Operations & Maintenance (O&M):
- Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends, hazards, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed monthly H&S reports for plant management.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Contribute to developing, implementing, and maintaining H&S policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and training sessions for employees.
- Participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
Procurement & Logistics:
- Assist in specifying health and safety requirements for purchase orders (e.g., PPE).
- Ensure an adequate and consistent supply of all necessary safety materials.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- A professional certification in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or equivalent.
Knowledge & Experience
A minimum of four years of direct health and safety experience, specifically within the Oil & Gas or a related heavy industrial sector.
Strong familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including Process Safety Management (PSM), OSHA, EPA, and other federal and local compliance requirements.
