Full-Time Jobs in Hong Kong With Visa Sponsorship ($40,000 – $50,000 a year)

Hong Kong has several global companies as its Asian headquarters, offering a variety of career choices. Many Hong Kong companies want their employees to speak Cantonese, thus international enterprises are the best way to find a job. Hong Kong allows foreigners to start businesses, therefore self-employment is possible.

No matter your path, you’ll need a lot of money to live comfortably in Hong Kong. Even though some Hong Kong jobs have high average wages, you need to make at least double the average to live comfortably.

Hong Kongers work long, physically exhausting days. Saturday is similar to every other workday, and overtime is common. Your social security eligibility depends on your time in the territories. Communicate with expats who share your interests. Connect with locals and foreigners to grow your professional network swiftly.

Average Salary and Minimum Wage in Hong Kong

An expat in Hong Kong can expect to earn around 120-130 HKD (15-17 USD) per hour, or roughly 240,000 HKD (30,000 USD) per year. However, it is dependent on the industry in which one works. Hourly pay in real estate and professional and business services can reach roughly 140 HKD (18 USD), while workers in personal services can expect to earn 170 HKD (22 USD).

However, 20,000 HKD (2,560 USD) per month is not regarded as “good” pay and will not provide you with adequate living conditions. To live comfortably, you need to earn at least twice or quadruple that amount.

In comparison to these figures, Hong Kong’s minimum wage remains shockingly low, notwithstanding recent increases. The minimum hourly salary in Hong Kong is 37.5 HKD (about 5 USD)

Even though the majority of employment contracts state that normal working hours are from 9:00 to 18:00, the vast majority of workers regularly put in extra hours. In addition to that, many offices are open on Saturdays for business. The hours still add up, despite the fact that on Saturdays (from morning until midday), there are fewer of them. People put in an average of 50 hours of labor each week, but it’s not unheard of for them to put in even more than that.

The workers in Hong Kong avoid taking vacation days as much as possible, and the number of public holidays totals just 17.
