CITIZENS OF 14 COUNTRIES ALLOWED TO ENTER TURKEY WITH NATIONAL ID OR EXPIRED PASSPORT – https://www.mfa.gov.tr/general-information-about-turkish-visas.en.mfa
Visa has been the only recognizable entry permit into a foreign land, it is strongly advised that foreigners who want to travel to Turkey get to know about their visa requirements. In accordance with the reciprocity principle, a country’s visa policies may vary and occasionally even change.
While some applicants might not need a visa to enter Turkey, everyone else will need to apply for a visa through Turkish representations abroad.
LIST OF COUNTRIES EXEMPTED FROM TRAVELLING TO TURKEY WITH A VISA
Although visas are a prerequisite to visiting a foreign land, some countries can be visited without visas under special conditions. In accordance with the “European Treaty on Regulations regulating the Mobility of People between Member – states of Europe,” citizens of certain nations are permitted to enter Turkey with their national IDs.
A list of countries eligible under these conditions are;
- France
- Belgium
- Italy
- Germany
- Netherlands
- Spain
- Switzerland
- Georgia
- Malta
- Greece
- Portugal
- Luxemburg
- Liechtenstein
- Republic of Northern Cyprus
Citizens of the aforementioned countries can visit Turkey with just a national ID. However, citizens of countries not under this agreement can only visit Turkey with a valid Turkish traveling visa.
TYPES OF VISAS AVAILABLE FOR VISITORS TO TURKEY
Persons who wish to visit Turkey can choose and apply for the visas below with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Turkey. Amongst these visas are;
- Official Visa – For persons assigned for official duty in Turkey
- Student-Education Visa – For students pursuing higher education or internship in Turkey
- Working Visa – For persons who have gained employment in Turkey
- Tourist Visa – For persons visiting Turkey for tourism
- Other Visas – This includes visas for families, medical treatment purposes, accompaniment, and other purposes.
