CHECK || Procedures for requesting information under the Right to Information Act released
STEP 1
A. Application for information may be submitted to public institutions from January 2020
B. Applications should be addressed to the information officer. Standard forms are available @ public institutions to aid the applicant
STEP 2
The registry of the public institution shall advise the applicant on when and how to expect a response
A. Information to safeguard the life or liberty of a person,(response within 48hrs)
B. All other information, ( response within 14 days)
STEP 3
Response shall convey:
A. The decision on the application
B. Prescribed fee for the reproduction of the information
C. Manner and form of access
STEP 4
Where applicant is dissatisfied with the decision, an appeal may be made to the head of institution and subsequently to the RTI commission, where the appeal decision remains unsatisfactory
