POSITION: SOCIAL WORKER (Accra)

Presently, we are undertaking this mission across eight (8) sites: Accra, Tema, Kasoa, Hebron, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, and Dambai by employing a combined strategy of street outreach, community prevention, reintegration efforts, and strong partnerships with various collaborators and stakeholders. Our evolving and dynamic workplace enables you to tackle new tasks and introduce fresh ideas or methods to our work processes. We are looking for a dedicated, adaptable, and creative person eager to add value to our expanding company.

Job Overview 

As a Social Worker, you will:

  • Engage with children on the street, communicate with them, provide assistance, and direct them to care and safety.
  • Perform thorough evaluations of street-connected youth, those vulnerable to street living, and their families to pinpoint needs, strengths, and potential dangers.
  • Create and execute tailored care plans that focus on urgent requirements and future objectives for families and children.
  • Involve young adults in career growth and equip them for a shift into apprenticeship/TVET initiatives via tailored interventions.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives and events to establish supportive connections for children and their families.
  • Offer direct assistance to children and families, aiding them in overcoming difficulties.
  • Help children move into formal education settings and work together with schools to guarantee that children’s needs are addressed.
  • Oversee the processes that help children move from street conditions back to their families for effective reintegration.
  • Empower families to operate effectively as key agents of socialization.
  • Recognize, create, and uphold collaborations with important stakeholders to utilize resources that empower clients, their families, and communities.
  • Regularly visit reunified children and their families, and strategize the most effective interventions for a successful reintegration.
  • Conduct workshops that improve and enrich the lives of street-connected children and their families.

Necessary Skills or Experience

To excel in this position, you ought to possess:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Integrated Development Studies, and Community Development.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience engaging with children and families, especially in street-connected settings or through community outreach efforts.
  • Exhibited understanding and expertise in casework.
  • Awareness of child-centric methods to discover solutions for children connected to the streets.
  • Awareness of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, along with the capacity to engage respectfully within those settings.
  • Familiarity with database management software (an advantage).
  • Capability to communicate in English and Twi, along with any additional Ghanaian language.
  • Outstanding abilities in cultivating trust and connections with children and their families.
  • Capability to operate with little oversight.
  • Individuals residing in or knowledgeable about Tema, Kasoa, and Accra are urged to submit their applications.
