CDD-Ghana is looking to hire a Communications Specialist (Afrobarometer Communications Coordinator for Anglophone West and North Africa).

Primary Tasks and Obligations

• Establishes, develops, and sustains connections with journalists and organizations focused on civil society and governance.
• Oversees media sources within the area for news pertinent to Afrobarometer.
• Collaborates with the Head of Communications and other coordinators to regularly tweet (either directly or via the Digital Portfolio Manager) about dissemination events, conferences and meetings relevant to Afrobarometer, and associated events.
• Supports National Partners in implementing social media within their operations.
• Compilation of reports: quarterly, annually, etc. (Afrobarometer exclusively)
• Develops and implements outreach and various initiatives to continuously generate coverage for Afrobarometer after the completion of official releases
• Manages and develops relationships with journalists and organizations focused on civil society and governance under the guidance of the Head of Communications.
• Oversees media sources in nations governed by Core Partner jurisdiction for news relevant to Afrobarometer.
• Collaborates closely with the Communications Team, Publications Manager, Digital Portfolio Manager, Central Management Team, and other stakeholders on worldwide releases for every round.
• Investigates particular issues or questions related to program or project topics and reports findings to the CDD-Ghana project team and Head of Communications.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Undergraduate degree in social sciences/humanities/statistics.
• Between five and eight years of relevant professional experience, or a mix of education and experience
• Outstanding oral and written communication ability
• Robust analysis and presentation of data
• Proven ability to consistently enhance knowledge and skills pertaining to the use of rapidly evolving technology.
• Excellent time management abilities
• Capability to manage several “priority” projects at once while establishing and adhering to deadlines, utilizing communication skills to ensure National Partners and senior leaders do likewise.
• Must show proven capability to handle one’s tasks independently.
• Should have established connections with NGOs, advocacy groups, or political parties.
• Proficient in using personal computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with G-suite; knowledge of SPSS is a plus but not mandatory; experience with Final Cut Pro or other video editing software is beneficial but not essential.
• A bit of experience and a great deal of enthusiasm for Twitter, Facebook, and various social media platforms.
• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of French/Portuguese is highly beneficial, though not mandatory.
• Readiness to travel frequently throughout Anglophone West and North Africa, and at times to other regions.
• Candidates who make the shortlist will be required to undertake a writing, presentation, and fundamental numeracy assessment
