Overnight Camp Counsellor hiring under the International Mobility Program

In camps where both kids and camp counselors spend more than a weekend sleeping outside, overnight camp counselors are employed.

According to LMIA exemption code C20, you are not required to get an LMIA if you plan to employ a seasonal (June to September) overnight camp counselor. However, if your temporary employee becomes a full-time employee, you must submit an LMIA application.
Additionally, you must generally submit an LMIA application if you are applying to be a day camp counselor.

Eligibility Requirements

The job offer must be for a seasonal overnight camp counselor to be accepted. The offer must also, entail the following

• First, a seasonally dependent job (often from June to September)
• Also, the counselor at an occupied camp, or a position with a similar title
• Lastly, a residential overnight camp lasting more than a single weekend.

How to Hire a Temporary Foreign Worker

Prepare and submit a proposal of employment form via the Employer Portal, and pay the $230 employer compliance charge.

With the help of the International Mobility Program, you can hire a counselor for an overnight camp. You are, however, not required to get an LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) if your employee satisfies the requirements. Depending on the circumstances surrounding the employee, you can also be excluded from incurring the employer compliance charge.

• First aid is administered by established protocols, and when necessary, emergency medical staff is contacted.
• Complaints about campers to leadership and works to fix problems.
• Other corresponding tasks as needed.

Skills/Abilities needed:

• Foremost, enthusiastic and upbeat outlook.
• Next, outstanding communication abilities.
• Ability to understand and follow the operating and safety regulations of the camp.

Education and Work History:

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• It is preferred if you have prior experience working with kids.
• Must pass reference and background checks, which include sex offender registry and fingerprint checks.

Note: Camp will run from 3 July 2023 until 1 September 2023.
