For talented immigrants who want to settle in Canada, Express Entry is still a crucial route. We’ll examine the major figures, patterns, and advancements influencing Canadian immigration via the Express Entry system in this update.
There were more Express Entry draws in April. Immigration continues this year, and the sorts and quantities of draws last month resembled those expected to emerge in 2024. Continue reading to find out about the present status of the Express Entry applicant pool, the April drawings, and how these things may affect your prospects of being granted immigration.
Current State of the Express Entry Pool
What draws occurred in April?
As in March, there were two general draws and two category-based selections in April in addition to four Express Entry lotteries. There were two general drawings on April 10 and 23, with 549 and 524 CRS cut-offs, respectively. On April 11 and 24, category-based selections were held to identify individuals with particular job experience or language ability. individuals with prior expertise in STEM-related fields and fluency in French were invited to apply.
When compared to other years, the overall comprehensive ranking system scores for general draws are still high. There have been three to five draws every month so far this year, with a fairly equal distribution of general and category-based draws.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will issue 110,00 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry system this year for permanent residents, per the Immigration Levels Plan. 35,960 of these ITAs had been issued as of April.
The Express Entry Pool
The Express Entry pool contains 24,697 candidate profiles as of April 23, 2024, an increase of 2,753 profiles from March. All score brackets saw increases at a relatively equal rate, keeping distributions about at the same volume as the prior month. Below is a full table with score distributions and the total number of participants in the pool.

What percentile is your score in the pool?
We may get the percentile of a score about the entire pool by taking the upper bound of each score range. We may have a better understanding of how scores relate to one another and what proportion of the pool has a score below that by using the percentile.
A higher percentile score can give some indication of one’s potential immigration possibilities during the year, even though it may not ensure an ITA. The full score percentile breakdown may be found below.

What effects does the makeup of the Express Entry applicant pool have on draw sizes and score cutoffs?
Due to the numerous factors that the IRCC takes into account before conducting each draw, such as category-based selections that respond to Canada’s labor market and demographic needs and place less emphasis on CRS scores, predicting upcoming CRS score cut-offs and draw sizes can be extremely challenging, if not impossible.
But knowing how these scores vary from one another and how big the pool is overall—especially when considering annual immigration levels—can help us identify patterns that can affect draw sizes and cutoff scores. This is because, in addition to perhaps taking the distribution of CRS scores into account when deciding on the next cutoff score, all draw sizes eventually need to strive toward fulfilling the Department’s goals as stated in the immigration levels plan.
Therefore, even if the data above cannot provide us with perfect predictions for the future, it can still be helpful to understand the patterns within and behind the Express Entry pool to assess an applicant’s likelihood of being selected for an ITA this year.
We’ve come to the end of our examination of the Express Entry pool for April 2024, and it’s clear that things are changing dramatically in Canada every month. For talented people looking to contribute their skills to Canada’s vibrant and diverse communities, Express Entry continues to be a crucial avenue.
