The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and engaging Customer Service and Sales Officer to join our team in Ghana. This dual-focus role is central to delivering an outstanding experience for our partners and customers. You will manage enquiries across all channels related to our programmes and examination services while actively driving sales to meet ambitious targets. This position is a two-year fixed-term contract based in Accra or Kumasi, offering a unique chance to contribute to our global mission.

Role Purpose

As the frontline representative of the British Council, you will ensure a seamless and positive customer journey. You will achieve sales goals by effectively managing prospective exam candidates and supporting the Exams team. Your responsibilities span the full customer lifecycle—from initial enquiry to final registration—maximizing conversion rates and identifying cross-selling opportunities. Additionally, you will support exam service delivery, ensuring efficiency and strict compliance with all policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • First, you will deliver consistent, high-quality customer service in line with corporate standards, handling enquiries via phone, email, and in person.
  • You will manage the complete sales cycle for exam services, nurturing leads and converting enquiries into confirmed registrations.
  • A core duty involves achieving and exceeding individual and team sales targets through effective relationship management.
  • Furthermore, you will maintain accurate customer records, process registrations and payments, and handle cash in accordance with audit requirements.
  • You will also support the logistical delivery of examinations, coordinating with the Exams team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Additionally, you will uphold our safeguarding policies, ensuring a secure environment for all customers and partners.
  • Finally, you will contribute to business development by providing market feedback and supporting promotional activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills (minimum CEFR Level B2).
  • Professional fluency in French.
  • A Higher Diploma or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in a customer service and sales role.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in IT systems; experience with a CRM is desirable.
  • A results-driven, resilient approach with the ability to work under pressure.
  • The legal right to work in Ghana and be based in Accra or Kumasi.
