Australia VETASSESS Trade Skill Assessment Changes 2024 | VETASSESS Skill Assessment

Vetassess announced numerous adjustments to the Trades Occupation Skills Assessment procedure on April 23, 2024. These changes will be implemented for newly submitted applications. If your work is classified as a trade profession, take this Trade Occupation Skills Assessment. Vetassess can currently assess up to 27 trade occupations.

These include, among others, electricians, carpenters, hairdressers, and cooks. The Vetassess Abilities Assessment Authority, approved by the Australian government, verifies that your abilities correspond with the relevant Australian trade by using specifications unique to each of the 27 trade occupations under examination.

You may be required to get a Trade abilities Assessment from a licensed training organization to have your abilities evaluated as part of the skilled migration process into Australia. You must select the appropriate career route and career path for your trade.

In this blog post, we will go over all of the major adjustments to the Vetassess Trade Occupation Skills Assessment in 2024, along with the three-step application procedure and commonly asked questions.

Change in how applications are lodged

The information and documents you submit when requesting a skills assessment will be reviewed to make sure there is sufficient support for your evaluation. Upon verification that your application is ready for evaluation, it will be approved and you will receive details on how to cover the evaluation fee. According to the change, you won’t have to pay for an assessment until you receive confirmation.

Changes for Pathway 1 Trade Applicants

Furthermore, the Pathway 1 application review process for all trades—apart from general electricians, special class electricians, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics, and general plumbers—is being modified by Vetassess. The second round of the review procedure will now consist of three sections;

Video evidence

You must submit a copy of a video that highlights your trade skills along with your stage two application. A video guide detailing the types of skills to include can be found on the Vetassess website. Once Vetassess has reviewed your video, it will notify you if the quality isn’t up to par and may request that you submit it again.

Australian industry standards online assessment

You need to finish a quick online course about Australian industry standards related to your trade. At the end of the course, you will be expected to complete an assessment to demonstrate your understanding of these standards. If necessary, you can retake the courses, and you have seven days to complete the evaluation.

Following the approval of your stage two application and the verification of your payment, you will receive an email with your access credentials for the online course.

Technical interview

Vetassess will arrange your technical interview as soon as the online test is completed and the requirements for video evidence are met. The approximately two-hour interview will be conducted online or in person at one of the evaluation sites.

For further details, see the Pathway 1 technical assessment guide or contact Vetassess via email.
