Australia Sponsorship Visa Program Changes for Skilled Workers and Employers | Easy Permanent Residency in Australia

As of November 25, 2023, the requirements that qualifying workers must meet to obtain permanent residency will be expanded beyond the boundaries that they currently have. All of the TSS visa streams will be available to employers, and they will have the flexibility to choose suitable candidates from among them for further consideration for employment.

What Skilled Workers Need to Know About the Changes to the Sponsorship Visa

These revisions make it possible for people who are already in possession of a 482 TSS visa or who are considering applying for one to make Australia their permanent home.

All holders of the 482 visa will be granted permanent residence.

No matter what line of work you are in, if you submit an application for a 482 TSS visa or if you already have one, you will be eligible to submit an application for a permanent Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Visa through the Temporary Residence Transition Stream. This is the case regardless of whether or not you are already in possession of a 482 TSS visa.

There will be a pathway available to you if your occupation is on the ANZSCO Code; however, in addition to meeting all of the other eligibility requirements for the 186 visa, your employer will need to agree to put you forward for nomination.

A Permanent Visa faster

Additionally, you will be able to acquire the 186 visas in a more expedient manner. As of right now, in order to be eligible for this visa, you need to have held a 482 visa and worked in the same position for three out of the previous four years. The 25th of November in 2023 will mark the beginning of a change that will reduce the number of years covered to two out of the previous three. You will benefit from these changes even if you previously had a pathway to a permanent 186 visa since your occupation is on the MLTSSL. This is because you will qualify for the visa more quickly.

What is not changing?

  • These program modifications will only apply to the Temporary Residence Transition Stream (TRT). You are required to nominate an occupation on the MLTSSL even if you intend to apply for an 186 visa through the Direct Entry Stream.
  • You are not eligible to submit an application for an 186 visa through the TRT if you already possess another type of work visa, such as a Graduate Visa 485, a Regional Employer Sponsored Visa 494, a Training Visa 407, or any other type. This has never been feasible and will never become achievable under any circumstances.
  • There are currently relatively few exemptions to the rule that sets the maximum age for a primary applicant for the 186 visa at 45 years old. Nothing has changed in this regard.

Because of these improvements, the Skilled Migration program in Australia will go through a significant shift, which will be to the benefit of the businesses in the country as well as the skilled people who live there.
