Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is seeking an experienced Unit Manager for Procurement and Logistics. This position sits within the Supply Chain Department and offers a strategic leadership role at one of Ghana’s most significant gold mining operations. The company operates a multi pit mining complex on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, running a 5.5 million tonne per annum processing plant with expansion potential. Galiano Gold Inc., a dual listed mining company on both the NYSE and TSX, owns the mine.

What the Role Entails

The successful candidate will lead procurement, contracting, warehouse, and logistics operations. You will ensure efficient, cost effective, and compliant supply chain performance. This position requires a commercially focused leader with strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. Mining or heavy industrial experience is essential.

Your core mission involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and overseeing logistics and inventory control. You will also ensure compliance with corporate governance standards, Ghanaian mining regulations, and local content requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The role breaks down into three main areas of accountability.

Procurement and Contract Support

You will support the implementation of procurement strategies to achieve cost efficiency, quality, and supply reliability. You will coordinate tender processes and assist in supplier and contractor negotiations. Monitoring supplier performance against agreed SLAs and reporting exceptions falls under your purview. You will also support contract administration, including tracking expiries, renewals, and key obligations.

Warehouse, Inventory, and Logistics

You will supervise daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, and issuance of materials. Ensuring proper stock control to reduce wastage, shortages, and overstock situations is critical. You will coordinate logistics activities to support operational schedules and timely deliveries. Enforcing adherence to safety, environmental, and material handling procedures within the warehouse is non negotiable.

Governance and Compliance

You will ensure procurement and logistics activities comply with company policies and relevant Ghanaian mining regulations. Local content requirements under GIAMA must guide your decisions. You will monitor supplier performance trends and report on key issues or opportunities for improvement. Supporting compliance with internal audit requirements and maintaining documentation for transparency will round out your duties.

What You Bring to the Table

Knowledge and Experience Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field.
Certification: Professional certification in procurement or supply chain such as CIPS or CPSM.
Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems like Delta ERP and contract lifecycle software.
Industry Experience: Minimum of ten years in procurement and logistics, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
Winning Track Record: Proven experience in contract negotiation, tender management, supplier engagement, and stakeholder management.
Warehouse Expertise: Strong background in warehouse and inventory management. Warehouse Management Systems exposure is preferred.
Financial Acumen: Experience in cost control, budgeting, and commercial analysis.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of Ghanaian mining regulations and local content requirements like GIAMA.
Operational Skills: Hands on experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, and stock optimization.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety and compliance standards for storage and material handling.
