Ronaldo joins Al Nassr until 2025

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr until 2025.

After a scathing interview with Manchester United, the Portugal captain is a free agent.

Ronaldo will reportedly earn over £177m per year.

The 37-year-old is “eager to experience a new football league in a different country”.

Ronaldo added: “I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia.”

Nine-time Saudi Pro League champions Al Nassr called the signing “history in the making”.

“Inspire our league, nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves,” the club said.

Ronaldo rejected a £305m offer from Al Hilal in the summer because he was happy at United.

In a November TalkTV interview with Piers Morgan, the striker said he felt “betrayed” by United, did not respect manager Erik ten Hag, and was being forced out.

Ronaldo returned to United in August 2021 after 11 years at Real Madrid, scoring 145 goals in 346 games.

He left United “mutually” after seven months on his £500,000-a-week contract.

After United’s April loss at Goodison Park, he was banned for two domestic matches.

He will serve the domestic ban with any new club, whether in England or abroad, but not in continental competitions like the Champions League.

Ronaldo recently returned from Qatar, where he became the first player to score at five Fifa World Cups with his goal in Portugal’s opening win over Ghana.
