Kotoko’s coach Prosper Narteh Ogum resigns
There are rumors that Prosper Narteh Ogum, head coach of Asante Kotoko has tendered his resignation to the management of the club. This follows after the management and board of directors held an emergency meeting on Wednesday, 20th July 2022.
The decision of the coach to resign came as a big blow to most of the club’s fans. This is especially because the club has less than three weeks to start the preseason activities.
The former coach of WAFA joined the Kotoko club prior to the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League. He came as a replacement for the Portuguese manager, Mariano Baretta.
WHY DID PROSPER NARTEY OGUM RESIGN
Sources say that Coach Ogum resigned because he did not agree with the management of the club over the transfer of targets. Also, the coach was unhappy about the condition of the service.
After their successful season, three key players of the club left. These players are Mudasiru Salifu, Fabio Gama, and Kwame Baah.
Another reason for the coach’s resignation was because he felt the management of the club was protecting players. Such players include Stephen Amankona and Patrick Asmah after they showed some misconduct.
Again, Coach Prosper resigned because he felt he was being disrespected by the management of the club on some technical issues.
Also, management was against his decision to sign Joseph Tetteh Zutah from Medeama SC. In addition, the coach was not in agreement with management to transfer some key players when there was a meeting. At a meeting, a board member asked him if he could get the club its budget of $3 million for the 2022/23 season’s campaign if he insists the players should not be sold.
Further, Prosper was not pleased with some attitudes of the management members.
The former WAFA coach led the Porcupine Warriors to defeat their rival’s heart of oaks in the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier league with 67 points. This brought them out of their seven years of drought.
