The Accra office of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) requests applications from qualified individuals to occupy the following position.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To manage and direct Information Technology maintenance and support efforts to facilitate the efficient provision of IT services.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Deputy Country Director, the IT Operations Associate will handle the following responsibilities.
  • Perform system and hardware upkeep activities, including executing specialized network surveillance and system safeguarding, to guarantee technology operates efficiently.
  • Oversee technology dependability, assess user requirements, evaluate data, and generate precise reports to suggest IT solutions that facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Address inquiries autonomously, escalating when necessary, to guarantee that common IT questions are resolved and correct information is given to employees.
  • Deliver standard technical instruction to end users of frequently utilized technology and systems, to aid WFP personnel in performing their tasks. 5. Offer training and guidance to junior team members in delivering IT support services to enhance the skill development of staff
  • Facilitate the coordination of new application deployment to equip WFP personnel with the necessary tools for effective performance.
  • Create standard materials like end-user and technical documentation to guarantee that employees can access necessary information regarding IT services and products.
  • Enhance techniques and procedures in the IT department to facilitate the ongoing advancement of IT services offered.
  • Oversee the installation and upkeep of telecommunications systems and equipment to guarantee optimal services in alignment with standard operational procedures.
  • Manage a group of IT personnel to guarantee that personal and collective goals are achieved while adhering to all applicable rules and guidelines.
  • Adhere to established emergency response protocols and procedures as needed to help ensure that emergency food assistance requirements are fulfilled

Required Academic Requirements

  • Finishing secondary school education. A certificate from a post-secondary institution in the relevant functional area.

Preferred Qualifications for entering the position:

  • Possesses experience evaluating service management outcomes and formulating service improvement suggestions. Has taken part in business process re-engineering initiatives and recognized enhancements in service management. Possesses experience in engaging with procurement/budgeting processes at the country office level.
  • General Service (Headquarters): Proficiency (level C) in the English language. Depending on the post’s location or area of responsibility, fluency (level C) or intermediate knowledge (level B) in another official language may be necessary. General Service (Field): Proficiency in both spoken and written communication in the UN language applicable at the duty station and in the local language, if it varies.
