POSITION: Chief Operating Officer (COO) 

About the Position

Our client, a prominent and thriving airline in West Africa, is initiating an ambitious expansion into long-haul and international markets. To facilitate this upcoming growth phase, we are looking for a seasoned and forward-thinking Chief Operating Officer (COO) to guide and enhance every facet of the airline’s operations.

The COO, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will be accountable for converting strategic goals into operational excellence across essential areas – Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, and Customer Experience.

The ideal candidate will be a practical and strategic aviation leader with a demonstrated history of enhancing operational efficiency, profitability, safety, and outstanding service delivery in intricate airline settings.

Main Duties

• Create and implement the airline’s operational plan in accordance with long-term objectives for growth and profitability.
• Advocate for safety, security, and adherence to regulations, fostering a robust, proactive safety culture.
• Supervise daily activities, encompassing flight planning, personnel oversight, ground services, and upkeep.
• Guarantee fleet dependability, timely performance, and operational preparedness.
• Guide in-flight services and customer-oriented teams to provide a uniform, top-notch passenger experience.
• Oversee operational budgets, manage expenses, and utilize data-informed insights to enhance performance.
• Establish and sustain robust connections with regulators, airport authorities, and important stakeholders.
• Foster innovation and ongoing enhancement by utilizing technology and optimal methods.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s diploma in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related discipline (MBA preferred).
• Over a decade of high-level leadership experience in the airline or aerospace sector.
• Proven effectiveness in overseeing extensive, intricate operations and driving organizational change.
• Robust financial oversight, strategic planning, and the ability to make decisions.
• Thorough comprehension of aviation regulations, safety procedures, and industry developments.
• Outstanding leadership, communication, and stakeholder interaction abilities.

Chain of Reporting

• The Chief Operating Officer directly reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is an essential member of the Executive Leadership Team.
• This is a remarkable chance for a skilled aviation leader to significantly influence the operational future of a top airline in West Africa.
