POSITION: Head, Information Technology
Summary of Responsibilities
- The individual in this role will be in charge of managing and supervising the bank’s information technology (IT) division.
- This involves offering strategic guidance and oversight for the bank’s technology initiatives, guaranteeing adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines, and overseeing the complete IT operations to provide secure, efficient, and innovative solutions that align with the bank’s goals.
- The employee will manage the IT budget, guarantee proper resource allocation and cost-effectiveness while enhancing value for the bank.
- It will also entail overseeing relationships with technology suppliers and service providers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that service delivery aligns with the bank’s standards.
- Furthermore, the job holder will be essential in confirming that all technological resources—systems, infrastructure, applications, and personnel—are in sync with the bank’s strategic goals. The position will advocate for digital transformation, support operational resilience, and encourage innovation to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
Primary duties of the Head of Information Technology consist of the following:
Strategy and Leadership
- Create and implement a strategic IT strategy that aligns with the bank’s business objectives.
- Offer guidance and direction for the IT team, promoting a culture of excellence and ongoing enhancement.
- Counsel upper management on new technologies, prospects, and threats.
Budgetary Administration
- Create and oversee the yearly IT budget and projections.
- Manage IT spending and guarantee the efficiency of all IT projects.
- Oversee software licenses, hardware acquisitions, and vendor agreements.
Supplier & Risk Oversight
- Discuss and oversee agreements with important technology suppliers (e.g., Temenos, Microsoft).
- Create and uphold a detailed IT risk register
- Make certain that strong Business continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies are established and frequently tested.
Regulation & Oversight
- Verify that all IT systems and processes adhere to banking regulations and data protection laws (e.g. GDPR, local banking rules)
- Act as the main liaison for all internal and external IT audits.
- Create and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualification Required & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline
- A master’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity or an MBA focused on information systems/technology management will provide an extra benefit.
- A minimum of 10 years in IT, including no less than 5 years in a management position within the financial services sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in budget oversight, supplier negotiations, and strategic planning.
- Professional credentials and certifications in IT and IT-related domains
- Comprehensive understanding of banking laws and compliance obligations
Technical Employment Requirements
- Demonstrated success in creating and executing IT strategies, policies, and governance structures that align with business goals.
- Proven expertise in overseeing organization-wide IT infrastructure, network administration, disaster recovery, cloud computing, and overall IT system security risk management.
- Proven experience in managing major IT projects and digital transformation efforts, encompassing system integrations, automation, and modernization.
- Solid experience in budget management, vendor coordination, and IT service provision
- Solid understanding of IT Governance, service management, IT enterprise architecture design, and IT project management.
