POSITION: District Commercial Coordinator

Currently, we collaborate with almost 40,000 farmers (40% women) via more than 100 trading hubs throughout Ghana. All of this is achievable solely because of the commitment and enthusiasm of a group of 250 individuals from 16 nations.

In Ghana’s cocoa industry, Warc Africa is dedicated to ensuring fair payments for farmers, upholding transparency, preserving quality, and rebuilding trust. Through strict inventory management and transparent communication, we are establishing a new benchmark in cocoa trading that ensures farmers are never deceived regarding scales, pricing, and quality.

Our Trading Hubs and District Warehouses position us nearer to the cocoa farmer than anyone else, enabling us to address issues related to productive inputs, expertise, and markets.

About the Position

Location: Cocoa-Producing Areas – Ashanti, Western North, Western, Central

As the District Commercial Coordinator, you will manage hub and warehouse operations in the designated district. The position guarantees the efficient processing of purchases, effective inventory management, adherence to Warc’s regulations, and robust connections with farmers and stakeholders. This position is essential for meeting Warc’s buying goals and sustaining Warc’s reputation in the cocoa value chain.

Main Duties

Center & Storage Activities

  • Oversee activities throughout the district’s centers and storage facility.
  • Carry out commodity acquisitions at the warehouse, making sure to adhere to quality benchmarks.
  • Keep precise inventory logs and verify correct paperwork for all acquisitions and transfers.
  • Keep track of inventory levels and collaborate with the Area Coordinator to restock items as needed.

Acquisition of Goods

  • Oversee procurement tasks in the warehouse and designated hubs.
  • Guarantee clear pricing and compliance with company guidelines and ethical sourcing methods.
  • Assist hubs in achieving their daily, weekly, and monthly procurement goals.

Engagement with Farmers and Stakeholders

  • Establish and nurture solid connections with farmers, purchasing clerks (PCs), COCOBOD/QCC officials, and Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs)/District Managers (DMs).
  • Serve as Warc’s liaison within the community to foster trust and enhance connections with stakeholders.
  • Gather farmer input and communicate findings with the Area Coordinator to enhance services and tackle local challenges.

Reporting and Communication

  • Deliver daily reports to the Area Coordinator, encompassing: total purchases compared to the day’s target; significant insights and observations from the field; and local updates and announcements that impact operations.
  • Quickly raise operational issues to the Area Coordinator for resolution.

Adherence & Responsibility

  • Guarantee compliance with Warc’s financial, operational, and safety regulations in the hubs and warehouses
  • Protect Warc’s assets and resources entrusted to them
  • Uphold exceptional levels of responsibility, honesty, and professionalism consistently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Supply Chain, Rural Development, or a similar discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in commodity procurement, warehouse oversight, or rural/agricultural operations.
  • Hands-on leadership experience, encompassing workforce management in fast-paced settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of large and small-scale farming dynamics, as well as rural community engagement.
  • Proficiency in local languages (e.g., Fanti, Akuapem, Twi, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Proficient in maintaining records, managing inventory, and performing basic accounting tasks.
  • Excellent skills in communication, negotiation, and building relationships.
  • Strong commitment to integrity, responsibility, and meticulousness.
  • Outstanding organizational and analytical abilities, capable of handling various tasks at the same time.
  • Readiness and capability to reside and perform tasks in countryside settings.
