POSITION: Coordinator, Law Enforcement Interventions – Tamale

IJM Ghana collaborates with Ghanaian government entities to combat human trafficking by rescuing victims, holding perpetrators accountable, restoring survivors’ safety and empowerment, and aiding public justice officials to enhance systems that safeguard the vulnerable.
The Requirement
For 25 years, IJM has led efforts to safeguard at-risk individuals from abuse. In our effort to extend our reach to safeguard 500 million individuals from violence by 2030, we are looking for a Coordinator, Law Enforcement Interventions to build community relationships in project zones; offer technical and logistical aid to law enforcement in case identification and during the case life cycle; support the creation and execution of training modules for law enforcement; and assist in promoting coordination among police, the Department of Social Welfare, and State Attorneys. This role necessitates regular travel to various areas in Ghana.
This role is located in Tamale, Ghana, and reports to the Senior. Manager, Tamale Initiatives.
Duties
- Connect and establish collaborations with important government representatives, aligned with the Organization’s strategic goals;
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the operational methods of human trafficking within the project area;
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of applicable laws and criminal processes related to human trafficking and similar case categories
- Prepare and deliver thorough and prompt reports;
- Finalize finance training, generate and handle requisitions, expense reports, and other finance-related activities, and submit them promptly;
- Enter field data, training events, and meetings into IJM’s Internal Systems – JDS;
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of operational recruitment, training, and management.
- Help the relevant authorities in documenting, collecting, and safeguarding evidence;
- Offer expert advice and support to governmental bodies dealing with human trafficking and associated matters;
- Assist in creating training curriculum and associated materials to address specified training requirements;
- Aid in the execution, oversight, and assessment of strategies and best practices for successful cooperation with governmental partners;
- Adhere to all IJM governmental and donor stipulations; and
- Engage in IJM’s community focused on spiritual growth.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant area is desirable.
- A minimum of two to three years of experience in performing criminal investigations, law enforcement, or similar roles is preferred;
- Preference will be given to those with experience in different government social service initiatives and NGOs operating in Ghana.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English;
- Proficiency in Twi, Ewe, Dangme, and Fante is beneficial;
- Skill to communicate information clearly and precisely;
- Outstanding presentation abilities;
- Preferred candidates should be computer literate and skilled in Microsoft Office applications; and
- Authorized and qualified to operate a vehicle with four wheels.
