POSITION: Security & Safety Coordinator
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily security tasks: gatehouse duties, patrols, surveillance via CCTV, access management, and key/asset oversight.
- Implement visitor management and badge/lanyard regulations; question and report unauthorized access.
- Align Child Protection & Safeguarding processes with the DSL; identify–document–alert concerns without delay.
- Organize and implement evacuation, lockdown, and shelter-in-place drills; monitor durations and rectifications until completion.
- Keep the H&S risk register updated; conduct risk assessments for classrooms, laboratories, playgrounds, traffic/parking areas, events, and excursions.
- Conduct regular safety inspections (fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, first-aid kits, AEDs, signage, PPE) and record corrective measures taken.
- Draft incident reports within a day; oversee/aid investigations and put preventive actions in place.
- Collaborate with the Ghana National Fire Service, Police, and medical teams; organize joint drills and responses.
- Support oversight of contractors and vendors: work permits, orientation, supervision, and post-job inspections.
- Monitor traffic, drop-off/pick-up patterns, and event security to guarantee secure, child-friendly transit around the campus.
- Maintain precise records and dashboards for SLT: drills, incidents, training, inspections, and patterns.
Essential Skills or Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Security Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Facilities Management, or a similar discipline.
- H&S qualifications (essential: IOSH Managing Safely; desirable: NEBOSH IGC).
- Initial Assistance/Basic Life Support.
- Proof of child protection/safeguarding training.
- Valid criminal background verification by the Ghana Police CID prior to appointment.
- Over 4 years of experience in security and safety within school, campus, hospitality, or corporate settings.
- Child protection/safeguarding training; comfortable with reporting procedures.
- Instruction in CCTV functioning and access management systems.
