Role Overview: Legendary Foods seeks a motivated, goal-focused, attentive, meticulous, and diligent Accounting Officer to join an exciting new initiative with a significant social and environmental influence. Along with Accounting, the selected applicant will possess an operational perspective that can progress toward performing sophisticated analysis, modeling, costing, and creating systems aimed at improving the business’s integrity, efficiency, and adaptability.
Position Summary
The perfect candidate should be capable of handling the following tasks:
- Precisely execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closures and submit them on time.
- Timely and precisely reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Guarantee the prompt handling of specific payments.
- Capacity to handle internal connections for competing resources
- Capability to implement the company’s policies on procurement, spending, reporting, asset management, inventory management, collections, credit, and other associated areas.
- The capability to recognize discrepancies and communicate them efficiently.
- Should possess strong attention to detail and effectively communicate in both spoken and written forms with local and international stakeholders.
- Complete tax preparation and ensure timely submission of tax returns.
- Ensure financial stability by adhering to internal control protocols.
- Resolve financial inconsistencies by gathering and examining account data.
- Protects financial data by ensuring the timely completion of database backups.
- Prepare balance sheets and profit/loss statements for the company each month with precision.
- Examine financial transactions and paperwork.
- Ensure that all employees adhere to financial policies and regulations.
- Help in the preparation for all month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Compulsory
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated experience as an account officer or in a comparable position.
- Strong familiarity with accounting software (ideally SAGE).
- Skilled in G Suite applications.
Essential skills and abilities
- Solid grasp and implementation of cost accounting principles and inventory control.
- Thorough comprehension and implementation of cost accounting principles: COGS, encompassing direct labour and overhead costs.
- Thorough knowledge and execution of all regulatory obligations: PAYE, SSNIT, and remittances.
- Deep comprehension and implementation of all tax-related regulations in Ghana: WTH, VAT, Corporate tax, and more.
- Capability to establish and uphold essential external connections, such as government entities, financial organizations, suppliers, subcontractors, etc.
- Capacity to evaluate service/supply proposals and discuss pricing/payment conditions.
- The convenience of managing both physical and electronic records of all financial documentation and related support materials.
- Payroll Administration, encompassing overtime assessment and validation, standard salary and time clock compensation, management, and remuneration of casual workers.
- Capability to oversee and control cash flow needs for various accounts, including petty cash, mobile money, and bank accounts.
- Capability to execute all cash management tasks associated with banking, such as online payee updates, electronic file submissions, statement retrieval, etc.
- Able to perform effectively under stress.
- Capability to execute tasks within strict deadlines
- Capacity to establish processes and systems in areas lacking them or needing revision.
