POSITION: HSSE Manager

Primary Duties:

The Country HSSE Manager will drive and execute Puma Energy’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) strategy, which encompasses management systems, programs, and training aimed at minimizing risk, enhancing worker health and safety, lessening environmental and community effects, and promoting a positive HSSE culture. This position is accountable for offering operational HSSE guidance and assistance to our country leaders, as well as implementing initiatives that consistently enhance our culture and performance in alignment with the Puma Energy Global HSSE Vision and Regional HSSE Strategy.

Main Duties:

  • Foster a robust Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) culture that encourages accountability and employee support via strong leadership and engagement approaches.
  • Guide the creation, execution, and evaluation of national strategies and initiatives that promote
  • Ongoing enhancement in HSSE performance and culture. Guide and impact business leaders on HSSE matters and initiatives while promoting uniformity in executing the Puma Energy HSSE Vision, Strategy, Management Systems, Governance, and Assurance Programs.
  • Make certain that Training Needs Analyses (TNA) are established for all locations and assist country leadership in achieving adherence to the plan. Deliver training and guidance on understanding and utilizing the Puma Energy HSSE Management System. Assist the Regional HSSE Strategy in recognizing HSSE opportunities and contribute to regional training initiatives.
  • Direct, assist, and offer advice to site and country-level leaders as needed regarding investigations into injuries, incidents, near misses, breaches, or other occurrences.
  • Perform monitoring and measurement activities at the local level as needed to pinpoint areas of non-compliance regarding the implementation and effectiveness of the Global HSSE Management System. Collaborate with site and country management to integrate these enhancement prospects into both short- and long-term business strategies.
  • Recognize and manage annual business plans for the site and country, ensuring alignment with the Regional HSSE Strategy and enhancement efforts. Support the creation and negotiation of yearly plans and budgets for the mitigation and management of HSSE risks in the country.
  • Create reports and presentations with suggestions that aid in continuous improvement efforts, national crisis management, and business continuity strategies. Support the creation of strategic reports to guarantee that the country leadership team and business executives grasp existing and developing HSSE risk patterns in the country.
  • Engage as a member of the Regional HSSE leadership team and collaborate effectively with the wider HSSE Group.

Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) position, preferably emphasizing Oil and Gas, Construction, Aviation, or other high-risk sectors;
  • Thorough knowledge of HSSE legal frameworks within local country jurisdictions and the capacity to communicate legal requirements clearly and concisely;
  • Qualification in the health, safety, and/or environmental field or equivalent. Preferred bachelor’s degree;
  • Familiarity and expertise in global standards ISO 45001, ISO 45003, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.

Skills:

  • Proficient in English, excellent written and oral communication, and presentation abilities;
  • Exhibited national project management expertise and incident analysis abilities;
  • Robust skills in risk assessment and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, encompassing robust teamwork, negotiation, and persuasion skills;
  • Outstanding writing abilities with the capacity to create reports and documentation;
  • Proficient computer abilities and intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including HSSE digital platforms;

Skills:

  • Experience in a vast, diverse cultural setting;
  • Robust leadership skills and a cooperative approach that can engage and sway diverse country stakeholders, including top management.
  • Assesses alternatives and provides advice based on a comprehension of national compliance requirements;
  • Goal-driven person capable of efficiently handling various tasks and deadlines.

  • Internal – Global HSSE Team, Regional HSSE Leader, National General Manager, National Functional Heads, National Operational Managers, National and Site Operational Teams, Supervisors, Staff, and Contractors.
  • External – Regulatory Bodies within national jurisdiction, Domestic Service Providers and Vendors, Auditors, Contractors, Clients, and others as appointed by the Regional Head of HSSE and Country General Manager
