POSITION: Sourcing Officers

Position Overview

AGROPAL is actively seeking dedicated and eager Officers to become part of its Sourcing department. The Sourcing Officers will assist the Sourcing Manager in overseeing the company’s comprehensive raw material sourcing operations concerning farmer/supplier relationships, prompt delivery of quality raw materials, price negotiations, and keeping current records of all sourcing activities.

Tasks and Obligations

• Assist the sourcing team in achieving seasonal and annual objectives.
• Oversee sourcing operations within the assigned area.
• Maintain and establish new connections with our growers.
• Offer technical support and necessary assistance to producers in line with company policy.
• Conduct scheduled evaluations of designated farmers’ crops.
• Assist farmers in the designated areas to implement and uphold necessary certification standards (such as Global GAP, Fair Trade, and Organic).
• Aid in overseeing and managing pesticide usage to guarantee out-growers adhere to customer specifications and the European Union (EU) Maximum Residue Limit (MRL).
• Oversee the inventory of raw materials that are received, stored, categorized, and distributed.
• Oversee the coordination of quality raw material procurement and associated logistics from specified areas for processing.
• Aid in fostering a culture of food safety and quality.

Required Skills or Experience

• HND or Diploma in Agriculture, Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a similar discipline. Having a Bachelor’s Degree is beneficial.
• At least 2 years of experience in procurement or sourcing raw materials, ideally in the agricultural sector or food processing industry.
• Comprehension of raw material acquisition procedures, supplier oversight, sourcing strategies, and the agricultural supply network.
• Fundamental understanding of food safety rules and quality assurance criteria (e.g., HACCP) related to sourcing raw materials.
• Excellent negotiation abilities and the capability to effectively handle supplier relationships while obtaining advantageous terms and conditions.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities for fostering robust relationships and engaging with suppliers and internal teams.
• Capability to perform market research and evaluate pricing patterns in agricultural products.
• Keen focus on detail for assessing the quality of raw materials, overseeing supplier agreements, and keeping procurement documentation.
• Skillfulness in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• The applicant must have the ability to ride a motorcycle, which will be their main mode of transport.
• Candidates must live in the Eastern Region, particularly Somanya and nearby areas, or be open to moving to these locations.
