Job Title: Local IT Officer

Project Background

We are implementing the USAID-funded Ghana Integrated Health Partnership (IHP) activity. This strategic initiative supports Ghana’s efforts to reduce preventable maternal, newborn, and child mortality. The program strengthens local health systems and scales up quality integrated health services across six regions, working directly to save lives and improve community well-being.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Local IT Officer to provide comprehensive technology support for our projects in Ghana. This role ensures reliable IT infrastructure, systems, and digital workplace services are delivered in compliance with organizational and donor standards. You will empower program staff with the tools and support needed to achieve maximum impact, potentially supporting multiple projects at various stages simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

You will be the cornerstone of IT operations, with duties spanning infrastructure, support, and strategic collaboration:

  • First, you will oversee the complete procurement, setup, and maintenance of all IT systems, including internet, computers, networks, and software licensing.
  • You will manage office space setup, including security systems, and maintain robust network infrastructure for all project locations.
  • A core responsibility involves implementing and monitoring IT security controls, data protection policies, and ensuring compliance with donor and local regulations.
  • Furthermore, you will configure staff devices, manage user accounts, and serve as a Digital Workplace Champion, providing essential digital skills training.
  • You will also oversee IT vendor relationships and collaborate with program teams to develop digital solutions that enhance project delivery.
  • Additionally, you will lead IT service management processes, handle incident resolution, and maintain detailed network documentation and asset inventories.
  • Finally, you will manage IT projects from start to closeout, prepare regular reports, and participate in global IT coordination meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
  • A minimum of four years in hands-on IT management and five years in IT support, preferably within an international NGO or humanitarian context.
  • Proven experience in IT vendor management, procurement, and supporting multiple projects.
  • Strong proficiency in supporting Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, etc.) and digital health technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and training skills.
  • Fluency in English and a relevant local language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft MCSE.
