Regarding Assessment Fees at the University of Southampton

For postgraduate taught programs, the university imposes an application assessment fee. You must pay the fee before submitting your online application.

• Every postgraduate research degree application is free of charge.

Please note that the university will only receive payment through the following methods:

• Applications are subject to a fourteen (14) )-day cancellation period for the application assessment charge. During this time, you may be eligible for a full refund under the terms outlined below.

1. If you withdraw your application within fourteen (14) days of submittal, you are eligible for a refund of the application assessment fee, unless the university has already completed its assessment during this period and determined that it was unable to extend an admission offer to you.
2. The university will refund your application assessment fee and withdraw your application if you elect to exercise this right within the specified period and the university has not yet completed its evaluation of your application.

• We will issue all refunds to the original card or account.
• Except for the circumstances specified above, the application assessment fee is non-refundable.

Exempted Candidates

All applicants who satisfy one or more of the following criteria are exempt from the application assessment fee. The application system will use your responses to the application form’s queries if you meet one or more of the criteria, allowing you to submit your application without the need for payment.

• First and foremost, a former student of the University of Southampton
• Second, a current undergraduate at the University of Southampton
• Thirdly, the Ministry of Defence covers the tuition fees of a serving member of the British Armed Forces.
