Job Title: Internal Audit Officer

Job Description

BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd (BGSL) is a pioneering socially responsible financial institution dedicated to empowering individuals at the base of the pyramid through sustainable economic activities. We are currently seeking a meticulous and proactive Internal Audit Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is central to providing independent assurance to management, evaluating the effectiveness of our internal controls, and enhancing our overall risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities

As an Internal Audit Officer, you will undertake a diverse range of critical tasks:

Execute various audits, including Branch, Process, and Regulatory audits, in strict accordance with the approved annual audit plan.
Conduct thorough evaluations of internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes to identify areas for improvement.
Develop comprehensive audit programs, prepare detailed working papers, and compile insightful audit reports for management review.
Assist in investigating any reported irregularities or discrepancies, ensuring issues are resolved effectively.
Monitor and follow up on management action plans to verify the complete implementation of recommended changes.
Maintain meticulous audit documentation and ensure the consistent use of our designated audit software throughout all processes.
Provide strategic recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and reduce the organization’s risk exposure.
Furthermore, you will perform any other duties assigned by the Internal Audit Manager to support the department’s objectives.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

You will play a key role in fostering a strong safeguarding culture by implementing our safeguarding policy across all program levels. Moreover, you will act as a primary source of guidance and support, ensuring team members are properly trained and have the necessary resources to maintain a safe working environment. You will also diligently follow the safeguarding reporting procedures for any incidents and encourage colleagues to do the same.

Your Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Information Technology or a related field.
Professional certification as a partly qualified Certified Internal Auditor or a fully qualified Certified Information Systems Auditor.
A minimum of three years of professional experience in Internal or External Audit, encompassing Finance, Assurance, Compliance, and Risk Management.
At least two years of experience in a similar internal audit role within the financial services sector.

Required Competencies:

A strong understanding of IIA standards and IT internal control systems.
Excellent IT audit, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and a goal-oriented mindset.
Proven capabilities in people management and leadership.
