POSITION: Finance and Administration Officer

What This Role Delivers
Sahara Group needs a Mechanical Maintenance Officer for its LPG tank farm in Ghana. This job maintains the integrity and safe performance of mechanical systems including pumps, compressors, tanks, valves, and pipelines. You will ensure full compliance with EPA Ghana, Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), and Department of Factories Inspectorate regulations.
Preventive maintenance responsibilities:
- Schedule regular servicing for compressors, pumps, storage tanks, pipelines, and valves
- Inspect welds, flanges, and hoses for leaks to comply with LPG HSSE standards in Ghana
Corrective maintenance duties:
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, compressors, and pipelines
- Replace worn parts using approved compliant materials
Equipment monitoring and safety tasks:
- Monitor pressure vessels, relief valves, and tank integrity to meet GSA requirements
- Maintain performance logs for internal and regulatory audits
Reporting and supervision expectations:
- Submit maintenance reports for internal use and compliance audits
- Supervise mechanical contractors and vendors ensuring adherence to Ghana’s safety codes
Additional responsibilities include:
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports on depot equipment for Management and Stakeholders
- Superintend over depot mechanical and panel setup, cooling systems, pumps, tanks, piping and ancillaries, metering systems, power generators, and general facility works
- Carry out work appraisal, costing, vendor nomination, approval justification, and supervise work execution
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, biannual, and annual equipment inspections
- Reduce overall equipment breakdown maintenance costs through effective in house or outsourced preventive maintenance
- Work collaboratively with other team members to support company business goals
Who Sahara Group Wants to Hire
Minimum qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Three to five years of mechanical maintenance experience specifically in LPG or Oil and Gas
- Certifications in Welding, Fabrication, Pressure Vessel Inspection, or HSE provide a distinct advantage
Required knowledge and skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems especially related to LPG tank farms
- Hands on experience with pumps, compressors, pipelines, valves, and gas storage systems
- Deep knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas industry
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- Proficiency with maintenance management software and basic IT tools
