POSITION: General Ledger Accountant

World Vision is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team. If you possess strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and period end closing activities, plus experience with ERP systems and project accounting environments, this role offers the opportunity to support reconciliation processes that enable vulnerable children to overcome poverty.

As a General Ledger Accountant, you will not simply reconcile accounts; you will ensure compliance with internal controls, Partnership Finance Manual standards, and general accounting principles, directly supporting our global mission.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual bank and cash book account reconciliations. Your role includes escalating unreconciled transactions, scheduling meetings with Field Offices to discuss items over 30 days, preparing LDR reconciliation reports, analyzing PBAS reconciliation including budget commitments, and reconciling monthly 300 or GL accounts. Additionally, you will monitor direct charges, review pre approval and settlement advice entries, maintain customer relationships, and participate in VSM meetings for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans reconciliation, analysis, follow up, customer relationship management, and process improvement. Here is what you will tackle:

Bank & Cash Book Reconciliations

  • You will prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual bank and cash book account reconciliations.
  • Taking action to escalate unreconciled transactions.
  • Scheduling meetings with Field Offices to discuss unreconciled items over 30 days.

LDR & Salary Journal Reconciliation

  • You will prepare, analyze, and follow up on LDR reconciliation reports.
  • Ensuring salary journals reflect LDR data of staff in Workday.

PBAS & Budget Reconciliation

  • You will prepare and analyze PBAS reconciliation, including monitoring budget commitments.
  • Informing Field Offices for subsequent adjustments.

GL Accounts & Direct Charges

  • You will prepare, analyze, and reconcile monthly 300 or GL accounts, including monitoring over 90 days unreconciled items.
  • Recording, controlling, and monitoring direct charges.

Pre Approval & Settlement Advice

  • You will review and ensure accurate creation of pre approval and settlement advice entries in the SA database.
  • Ensuring clearing of all approved SA charges in Sun6.

Customer Relationship & Process Improvement

  • You will maintain customer relationships by preparing presentation materials and participating in Field Office monthly meetings.
  • Participating in VSM meetings and contributing to process improvement.

What You Bring to the Role

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Knowledge of general accounting standards, account reconciliations and analysis, and period end closing activities.

Language Skills

  • Good command of BOTH written and spoken business French and English. This is essential for working with Field Offices across francophone and anglophone regions.

Technical Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of best practices within a project accounting environment and how to drive performance through better behaviors.
  • Ability to perform and direct root cause analysis over various aspects of performance.
  • Knowledge of technology including data structure, analysis codes, and business rules.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and any accounting ERP solutions.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including internal controls principles.
