Job Title: Senior Analyst – Microbiology
Job Summary

Nestlé Ghana Limited is currently looking for a Senior Analyst in Microbiology to ensure the quality and food safety of all Nestlé products. Your work will directly build customer confidence and satisfaction.
This is not a routine lab position. You will be on the front lines of food safety. You will monitor pathogens during processing, supervise microbiological analysis, and investigate deviations. Also, you will manage critical data and advise management on quality decisions. Lastly, you will also train and develop junior analysts, sharing your expertise in microbiological techniques. If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field and at least three years of experience in a food processing environment, we invite you to apply.
Your Responsibilities
As Senior Analyst in Microbiology, you will own the microbiological integrity of our products. You will ensure all analysis on raw materials, semi-finished goods, finished products, and line controls happens within stipulated timeframes. You will monitor water quality, verify cleaning effectiveness, and investigate any microbial deviations. Your insights will guide management decisions and protect the Nestlé brand.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Microbiological Testing & Monitoring
- Conduct Pathogen Monitoring: You will monitor the environment during processing for pathogens. You will perform line releases to ensure products are safe before reaching consumers.
- Supervise Microbiological Analysis: You will oversee all testing on raw materials, semi-finished products, finished products, and line controls. You will ensure tests are completed accurately and on time.
- Analyze Water Quality: You will test water used in the plant to check chlorine dosing effectiveness. You will prevent cross-contamination through rigorous monitoring.
- Then, verify Cleaning Efficiency: You will sample before and after cleaning to verify the effectiveness of plant sanitation. You will ensure cleaning protocols deliver results.
Deviation Investigation & Corrective Action
- Investigate Microbial Deviations: When results fall outside acceptable limits, you will conduct thorough investigations. You will determine root causes and develop action plans for correction.
- Implement Corrective Actions: You will work with production and quality teams to implement fixes. You will prevent recurrence and protect product integrity.
Data Management & Advisory
- Manage Microbiology Results: You will maintain comprehensive records of all microbiological data. You will analyze trends and use insights to advise management on quality matters.
- Also, prepare Reports: You will document findings and communicate them clearly to stakeholders. Your reports will inform critical decisions.
Training & Development
- Train and Develop Analysts: You will share your expertise in microbiological techniques and rapid methods with junior team members. You will build the capability of the entire lab.
- Ensure Best Practices: You will champion proper use of lab equipment and adherence to protocols. You will maintain high standards across the team.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: You will work closely with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams. You will ensure alignment on food safety objectives.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: You will stay current with food safety standards and regulatory requirements. You will ensure all testing meets or exceeds expectations.
Education & Experience
We are looking for a seasoned microbiologist with hands-on lab experience and a deep understanding of food safety in a processing environment. You must be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of leading both testing and people.
To excel in this role, you will need:
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a food processing environment. You understand the unique challenges of industrial food production.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Hands-on experience with microbiological testing methods and lab equipment. You can perform tests accurately and reliably.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulatory requirements. You know what compliance looks like.
- Competency in SAP is highly desirable. You can navigate enterprise systems effectively.
- Knowledge of Quality Control principles in food manufacturing.
- The ability to undertake data analysis and produce clear, actionable reports.
- Capability to use and handle laboratory machines, instruments, and devices competently.
Personal Skills & Attributes
- Good written and verbal communication skills. You can explain complex issues clearly.
- Computer literacy at an intermediate level. You are comfortable with standard office software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
