Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Specialist in Relational Well-being. This is not a behind the desk role. This is a human centered position built on trust, connection, and care. You will help us build cultures where every staff member feels seen, heard, and supported. If you have ever watched colleagues carry heavy burdens and wished for better ways to support them, this role is your answer.

This role exists to strengthen those relational foundations. You will work alongside regional and national colleagues to embed relational well-being into the fabric of our organization. You will help repair trust when it frays and build peer networks that sustain connection.

We need someone with deep relational intelligence and cultural humility. You must be comfortable working in complex environments with care and credibility. We are especially eager to hear from candidates currently working in national or regional contexts within humanitarian or international organizations.

Responsibilities

You will not work in isolation. You will collaborate closely with HR, Communications, Security, and Regional Leaders. Together, you will ensure that relational well-being becomes a natural part of how we operate every day.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing Relational Care Systems: You will develop frameworks and practices that strengthen trust, belonging, and relational repair. You will provide guidance on integrating these approaches into our policies and daily practices.
  • Strengthening Staff Support Networks: You will support regions in sustaining and adapting peer support networks. You will facilitate learning and skill development for staff support functions, promoting informal practices that keep people connected.
  • Leading Organizational Healing: When crises hit or trust breaks down, you will step in. You will provide technical input for relational repair and support healing processes following organizational ruptures or change.
  • Managing Knowledge and Learning: You will document lessons from our relational care practices and contribute to communities of practice. You will support research and innovation in peer based support systems while staying current on industry trends.
  • Collaborating Across Functions: You will partner with specialists in Change, Work Design, and Mental Health to create integrated approaches. You will also work with Risk and Emergency teams to align relational systems with resilience strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

You bring a unique blend of education, experience, and emotional intelligence. Also, you know how to create safe spaces for difficult conversations. You understand the weight of moral injury and institutional betrayal. Most importantly, you know how to help organizations heal.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced Education: A Master’s degree or higher in psychology, sociology, organizational development, or a related field. Advanced training in facilitation, conflict resolution, or restorative justice is a strong advantage.
  • Relevant Certifications: Professional certification in counseling, coaching, or mental health first aid is highly desirable.
  • Deep Experience: At least seven years in psychosocial support, organizational psychology, or humanitarian staff care. You have expertise in relational practices, trust building, and staff support systems.
  • Facilitation Skills: You have experience facilitating healing, conflict resolution, or restorative practices in complex organizations.
  • Cross Cultural Competence: You have proven experience working across cultures in INGOs or similar international organizations.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Additional languages are a significant advantage.
  • Humanitarian Context Knowledge: You understand the unique challenges of staff care in humanitarian settings. You are familiar with moral injury and organizational healing.
  • Influencing Skills: You can communicate skillfully and influence across all levels of a complex global organization.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: You thrive in fast changing environments and handle high pressure situations with calm energy. You manage multiple priorities without missing a beat.
  • Self Starter Mentality: You work well independently, showing initiative and strong problem solving skills.

This role requires travel up to 20 percent of the time, sometimes in hazardous conditions. You must be willing to work outside regular business hours when needed. But for the right person, this is more than a job. It is a calling.
