2024 Fully Funded NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship

NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship 2023 applications are open. The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship helps public school teachers integrate global competency into their classrooms, promote it in their schools and districts, and help students thrive in our increasingly linked world. Fellows improve classrooms to teach global perspectives.

NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellows spend a year online learning through courses, webinars, reading, reflection, and a two-day workshop and overseas field research. The cohort learns about the country’s history, culture, and education system by meeting with legislators, business, and nonprofit leaders and visiting schools to meet teachers, students, and administrators.

To create life-changing field study experiences for the Fellows, the NEA Foundation collaborates with EF Educational Tours, a world authority on foreign education. Costa Rica is the field study nation for the 2024 cohort.

Costs

• Breakfasts, dinners, accommodation, travel, and professional development activities are all fully funded by the NEA Foundation. But, the following is what NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellows are accountable for:
• Obtaining (if necessary) a leave of absence from school for a field study abroad in late July and a PD workshop in the fall
• Obtaining or upgrading a US passport
• Purchasing daily lunches for a $200 overseas field study
• Giving local guides and bus drivers tips (a total of about $100)

Eligibility

You may submit an application if:

• You work as a classroom teacher in a public school, where you are in charge of developing lesson plans and imparting knowledge to pupils in grades K–12.
• You’ve been a teacher for three or more years.
• You currently hold an NEA membership.
